Introduction: In 2023, recombinant zoster vaccine (RZV) replaced zoster vaccine live (ZVL) vaccine in the UK National Immunisation Programme (NIP) for prevention of herpes zoster (HZ). The vaccination age was reduced from 70 to 65 years, with a subsequent planned reduction to 60 years. This modelling study aimed to evaluate the public health impact (PHI) of RZV vaccination in the 70 years of age (YOA) population and in younger individuals 65 and 60 YOA.

An attractive candidate vaccine antigen because of its essential function and surface exposure, the gonococcal transferrin binding protein B (TbpB) exhibits high levels of antigenic variability which poses a significant obstacle in evoking a broadly protective vaccine composition. Here, we utilize phylogenetic information to rationally select TbpB variants for inclusion into a potential gonococcal vaccine and identify two TbpB variants that when formulated together elicit a highly cross-reactive antibody response in both rabbits and mice against a diverse panel of TbpB variants and clinically relevant gonococcal strains.

Methods: Systematic literature review of PubMed, Embase, and Virtual Health Library records between January 1, 2002 and October 20, 2022 using search strings for HZ, complications, and frequency measurements.
Results: The review included 124 studies, most conducted in the general population (n = 93) and on individuals with comorbidities (n = 41) ≥ 18 years of age.

We provide estimates for (I) annual herpes zoster (HZ) cases, (II) carbon costs related to healthcare utilization, and (III) annual carbon emissions due to HZ among ≥50 years of age (YOA) United States (US) population. We estimated the annual number of HZ cases in the US based on available incidence data and demographic data of individuals ≥50 YOA. Both the healthcare resource utilization (HCRU) associated with HZ cases and the unit carbon dioxide equivalent (i.

The effect of RZV in moderating the severity of breakthrough cases of herpes zoster has been noted but not explicitly quantified before. In this study, a meta-analysis was undertaken to estimate differential utility losses between unvaccinated (Placebo) and vaccinated (RZV) subjects in breakthrough cases of herpes zoster from three RZV clinical trials.

This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of available literature on the neurocognitive profile of children and young people with DMD. Five databases (EMBASE, Medline, PsycInfo, Scopus and Web of Science) and the grey literature was searched on 27 January 2023.

Methods: This study estimates the public health impact of vaccination with the adjuvanted RSVPreF3 vaccine among adults aged ≥ 60 years in the United States (US). A static, multi-cohort Markov model was used to estimate RSV-related outcomes over a 3-year time horizon for scenarios with and without one-time RSV vaccination.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has had a broad impact on health services and health outcomes. During the pandemic, there were numerous reports of herpes zoster (HZ) in people with COVID-19 and in COVID-19 vaccine recipients. The aim of this review is to elucidate the global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on HZ.

In the initial analysis, cabozantinib plus atezolizumab significantly prolonged progression-free survival versus sorafenib. Here, we report the pre-planned final overall survival analysis and updated safety and efficacy results following longer follow-up.

Polanyi's (1957 [1944]) stands as a towering analysis of the industrial revolution and a powerful social warning against social and natural damage driven by the pursuit of maximal economic value. Polanyi envisioned that the 'discovery of society', due to its radical neglect during the industrial revolution, led to this new social knowledge resulting in the end of and the self-regulating market. Yet, the most recent phase of the industrial revolution, the digital phase, suggests that many of the same failures to manage industrial revolutions are occurring again.

Healthy ageing is defined as maintaining functional ability, including the ability to: meet basic needs; learn, grow and make decisions; be mobile; build and maintain relationships; and contribute to society. The risk and impact of infectious diseases increase with age due to immunosenescence.

Currently, little is known on the attitudes of European healthcare professionals (HCPs) towards hepA and hepB vaccinations for at-risk adults. We conducted an online survey among HCPs in Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom to assess their awareness of and adherence to their national hepA and hepB vaccination guidelines for at-risk adults.

The current study used a cross-sectional online survey design to explore the impact of a range of demographic, work-related, and compassion-related factors on levels of secondary traumatic stress (STS) and vicarious posttraumatic growth (VPTG) in an international sample of 359 psychological therapists. Hierarchical multiple regressions demonstrated that burnout, lower levels of self-compassion, having a personal trauma history, reporting a higher percentage of working time with a trauma focus, and being female were the statistically significant contributors to STS scores, explaining 40.

Race, ethnicity, and/or ancestry terms are sometimes included in these types of guidelines, but it is unclear if this is appropriate for clinical decision-making. At our institution, we developed and applied a structured framework to determine whether race, ethnicity, or ancestry terms identified in our clinical pathways library should be retained, modified, or removed.

Impairment of cell-mediated immunity, as observed with aging and immunosuppressive disorders and therapies, increases risk. Recombinant zoster vaccine (RZV) is efficacious against HZ in adults aged ≥50 years in different settings, and in immunocompromised adults aged ≥18 years who are at increased risk of developing HZ.

Herein, we report a conceptually different approach toward highly functionalized organoborane synthesis by using recoverable ultrathin cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanosheets as a heterogeneous photocatalyst, and a general and mild borylation platform that enables regioselective borylation of a wide variety of alkenes (arylethenes, trifluoromethylalkenes, α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds and nitriles), alkynes, imines and electron-poor aromatic rings with NHC-borane as boryl radical precursor. Mechanistic studies and density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that both photogenerated electrons and holes on the CdS fully perform their own roles, thereby resulting in enhancement of photocatalytic activity and stability of CdS.
