Macular pucker in association with RPE adenoma: a report of a case and review of the literature.

Background: Retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) adenoma is an extremely rare tumor of the posterior segment which must be differentiated from other choroidal tumors, such as choroidal nevus or melanoma. We report the case of a patient with RPE adenoma coincident with macular pucker who underwent successful pars plana vitrectomy and membrane peeling.

Patient And Methods: A 58-year-old female patient was diagnosed with RPE adenoma and epiretinal membrane and subsequently underwent pars plana vitrectomy and epiretinal membrane peeling.

Surgical management for postkeratoplasty glaucoma: a meta-analysis.

Purpose: To perform a meta-analysis on postkeratoplasty glaucoma and directly compare the affect of trabeculectomy, cyclophotocoagulation (CPC), and glaucoma drainage device (GDD) on intraocular pressure (IOP) control and corneal graft survival.

Understanding the mechanism that governs the transport of long chain free fatty acids (FFA) across lipid bilayers is critical for understanding transport across cell membranes. Conflicting results have been reported for lipid vesicles; most investigators report that flip-flop occurs within the resolution time of the method (<5 ms) and that dissociation from the membrane is rate limiting, while other studies find that flip-flop is rate limiting and on the order of seconds. We have reinvestigated this problem and find that the methods used in studies reporting rapid flip-flop have not been interpreted correctly.

The influences of mood-state and sex of subject were examined for ratings of the emotional intensity of videotaped facial expressions of happiness. 102 subjects who were classified by sex and their scores on the Beck Depression Inventory provided ratings of the faces. Idiopathic myelofibrosis is a myeloproliferative disorder of unknown origin. The bone marrow becomes fibrotic with an associated decrease in hematopoiesis resulting in anemia, bleeding problems, splenomegaly, and other secondary abnormalities.
