The Clubhouse Model of Psychosocial Rehabilitation provides non-clinical social support for adults living with a diagnosed mental illness or self-reported mental ill-health (referred to as 'members'). The Stepping Stone Clubhouse in Brisbane, Australia was evaluated between August 2022 and August 2023 using a participatory action research approach. Data was sourced from member surveys, member interviews, and an existing Clubhouse Member Database.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) often leads to a spectrum of pulmonary complications, including interstitial lung disease (ILD) with the potential for fibrotic sequelae. Assessing the presence of ongoing active inflammation versus established residual fibrosis as a result of lung parenchymal injury and repair in these patients is a clinical challenge. Better understanding of the disease process is crucial for guiding appropriate therapeutic strategies.

Background: People experiencing homelessness are disproportionately affected by alcohol use disorder (AUD). Abstinence-based treatment, however, does not optimally engage or treat this population. Thus, harm reduction treatment for alcohol (HaRT-A) was developed together with people with lived experience of homelessness and AUD and community-based agencies that serve them.

Objectives: The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of published dental clinical guidelines using the AGREE II instrument.

Methods: Online searching of a wide range of organisations (national and International) was undertaken to identify dental clinical practice guidelines published between 2000 and 2014. The quality of each included guideline was assessed in relation to the AGREE II instrument by four assessors independently.

The purpose of this statement is to provide consensus-based recommendations for optimal management and care for patients with primary mitochondrial disease. This statement is intended for physicians who are engaged in the diagnosis and management of these patients. Working group members were appointed by the Mitochondrial Medicine Society.

Importance: Mitochondrial disease is being diagnosed with increasing frequency. Although children with mitochondrial disease often have severe, life-limiting illnesses, many survive into adulthood. There is, however, limited information about the impact of mitochondrial disease on healthcare utilization in the U.

Systemic mitochondrial energy deficiency is implicated in the pathophysiology of many age-related human diseases. Currently available tools to estimate mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) capacity in skeletal muscle in vivo lack high anatomic resolution. Muscle groups vary with respect to their contractile and metabolic properties.

While annotation of the genome sequence of Clostridium thermocellum has allowed predictions of pathways catabolizing cellobiose to end products, ambiguities have persisted with respect to the role of various proteins involved in electron transfer reactions. A combination of growth studies modulating carbon and electron flow and multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mass spectrometry measurements of proteins involved in central metabolism and electron transfer was used to determine the key enzymes involved in channeling electrons toward fermentation end products. Specifically, peptides belonging to subunits of ferredoxin-dependent hydrogenase and NADH:ferredoxin oxidoreductase (NFOR) were low or below MRM detection limits when compared to most central metabolic proteins measured.

In a few short years, the Internet (in terms of the World Wide Web) has become a powerful informational resource for the original scientific literature pertaining to biological investigations using the laser scanning confocal microscope. However, there still remains an obvious void in the development of educational Web sites targeted at beginning students and novices in the field. Furthermore, many of the commercial aftermarket manufacturers (for example, those offering live-cell imaging chambers) have Web sites that are not adequately represented in published compilations, and are therefore somewhat difficult to locate.

Methotrexate (MTX) is a folic acid antagonist widely used in the treatment of cancer but, like other such agents, has non-specific toxic side effects. With the aim of reducing these toxic effects, MTX was coupled to monoclonal antibodies (MoAb) in one of two ways; either (a) directly using an active ester derivative or (b) via human serum albumin (HSA), to act as an intermediary and so increase the amount of MTX bound. The MTX coupled directly to anti-Ly-2.

Two related folate antagonists aminopterin (AMN) and methotrexate (MTX) were used to produce drug-antibody conjugates and their tumouricidal effects compared in vitro and in vivo. Active ester derivatives were produced with the use of N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) and covalently coupled to monoclonal antibodies (MoAb) reactive with murine cell surface antigens; approximately 11 molecules of AMN or 13 molecules of MTX were specifically bound per molecule of anti-Ly-2.1, with good retention of antibody activity and protein recovery.
