Background/objectives: This paper details the development of the Helping Educators Learn Pediatric Pain Assessment and Intervention Needs (HELP PAIN) program.
Methods: HELP PAIN is an 8 h live training program for school providers (e.g.
Sedimentation velocity, using an analytical ultracentrifuge equipped with fluorescence detection, and electrophoresis methods are used to study aggregation of proteins in transgenic animal model systems. Our previous work validated the power of this approach in an analysis of mutant huntingtin aggregation. We demonstrate that this method can be applied to another neurodegenerative disease studying the aggregation of three dipeptide repeats (DPRs) produced by aberrant translation of mutant c9orf72 containing large GC hexanucleotide repeats.

Nonpharmacological approaches to chronic pain, like cognitive- behavioral therapy (CBT), can be effective. Schools could provide children with chronic pain access to these interventions.

The development of risk prediction models can partly alleviate this problem by supporting primary care interventions and public health planning. Here, we introduce SPARRAv4, a predictive score for EA risk that will be deployed nationwide in Scotland.

Profiling the prevalence and level of frailty within the acute hospital setting is vital to ensure evidence-based practice and service development within the construct of frailty. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to establish the prevalence of frailty and co-morbidities among older adults in an acute hospital setting.

One of the key challenges medical schools must address is preparing students for the complexity, uncertainty and clinical responsibility in going from student to doctor. Recognising the importance of both cognitive and systems-related factors in diagnostic accuracy, we designed the QUID Prompt (Questions to Use for Improving Diagnosis) for students to refer to at the bedside.

Ruminants are considered the main reservoir of infection, and STEC exceedance has been associated with heavy rainfall. In September 2022, a large outbreak of STEC O157:H7 was identified in the United Kingdom (UK).

The most common driver mutation found in MPNs is a point mutation on exon 14 of the JAK2 gene, JAK2. Various studies have suggested that measuring the variable allele frequency (VAF) of JAK2 may provide useful insight regarding diagnosis, treatment, risks and outcomes in MPN patients.

This case highlights that whilst APL with variant RARα translocations are rare, they do pose significant challenges both diagnostically and in their clinical management. This case, in the first instance, demonstrates the importance of using a combination of molecular techniques including next generation sequencing (NGS) for diagnosis particularly in morphological and immunophenotypic typical APL which appears negative by confirmatory testing.

These changes co-regulate resilience to stressful environmental conditions, plant growth and development, and interactions between plants and the wider ecosystem, while also affecting soil carbon storage and atmospheric and climatic conditions. The objective of this study was to determine the association between UV exposure and the contents of key metabolites, including amino acids, phenolics, flavonoids, terpenoids, carotenoids, tocopherols, and phytosterols.

As a complement to the clinical trial and to address important data gaps, the CPX-351 Real-World Effectiveness and SafeTy (CREST-UK; NCT05169307) study evaluated the use of CPX-351 in routine clinical practice in the UK, in 147 patients with newly diagnosed therapy-related AML or AML with myelodysplasia-related changes. Best response of complete remission or complete remission with incomplete platelet or neutrophil recovery was achieved by 53% of evaluable patients.

Evaluations of large-scale culture change programs are rare resulting in limited evidence of intervention effectiveness. We conducted a multi-method evaluation of a professional accountability and culture change program "Ethos" implemented across eight Australian hospitals.

Despite recent guidelines to optimise PA following stroke, people with stroke are known to be less active than their age-matched counterparts. Given the heterogenous nature of stroke, adaptive PA interventions are recommended for people with stroke.

We examined the role of HER2-low expression in predicting pCR and prognosis in HER2-negative eBC.
Methods: We evaluated patients with stage I-III HER2-negative BC, treated between 2013 and 2023 at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, London.
UV-B radiation can substantially impact plant growth. To study UV-B effects, broadband UV-B tubes are commonly used. Apart from UV-B, such tubes also emit UV-A wavelengths.

The purpose of the study was to measure the associations of specific exposures (deprivation, ethnicity, and clinical characteristics) with incident sepsis and case fatality.
Methods: Two research databases in England were used including anonymized patient-level records from primary care linked to hospital admission, death certificate, and small-area deprivation.
Background: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a major health threat in Canada. In British Columbia (BC) province, 1.6% of the population had been exposed to HCV by 2012.

This scoping review aims to identify, examine and report on the currently available evidence about communication by non-specialist nurses when caring for adults living with cancer outside of their cancer care unit/teams.
Methods And Analysis: A scoping review following the JBI methodology for scoping reviews will be conducted.
Background: Functional abdominal pain disorders (FAPD) are the most common chronic pain conditions of childhood and are made worse by co-occurring anxiety. Our research team found that the Aim to Decrease Pain and Anxiety Treatment (ADAPT), a six-session coping skills program using cognitive behavioral therapy strategies, was effective in improving pain-related symptoms and anxiety symptoms compared to standard care. In follow-up, this current randomized clinical trial (RCT) aims to test potential neural mechanisms underlying the effect of ADAPT.

Aims: The paper's aim is to report on the development and evaluation of a pre-registration clinical research resource for nursing and midwifery students with direct application to clinical settings and patient care outcomes.
Background And Aims: Sepsis is a serious and life-threatening condition caused by a dysregulated immune response to an infection. Recent guidance issued in the UK gave recommendations around recognition and antibiotic treatment of sepsis, but did not consider factors relating to health inequalities. The aim of this study was to summarise the literature investigating associations between health inequalities and sepsis.

Both fields faced difficulties in maintaining services due to COVID-19 precautions and limited referrals. This review examined the changes in forensic practices, aiming to understand their impact and learn from them to inform future strategies.
