Biomimetic and protective effects of bioactive toothpastes on eroded enamel surfaces.

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of bioactive toothpastes in remineralizing eroded enamel surfaces in vitro. Bovine enamel blocks (n = 48) were obtained and classified into untreated, demineralized, and treated areas. Specimens were randomly classified into six groups (n = 8 each): fluoride-free toothpaste (NCT), Colgate Total 12 (PCT), Sensodyne Repair and Protect (SRP), Sensodyne Pronamel (SPE), Regenerador + Sensitive (RGS), and RGS/calcium booster (RCB).

The reactivity of our recently disclosed hypervalent iodine reagents (HIRs) bearing a benzylamine with in situ-generated sulfenate salts was investigated. Under the studied conditions sulfonamides have been obtained in up to 52% yield. This reaction has been extended to a variety of HIRs and sulfenate salts to explore the different reactivity of these new reagents.

Recognizing that the global pandemic not only brought challenges but also new opportunities to take a stance and to actively engage in communities and society, this review assesses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on young people's civic engagement across different cultural contexts and identifies key factors and processes that enable young people to engage with their community or society at large. We summarize evidence from 27 original research papers, one thought piece, and four reports conducted by global organizations such as the United Nations and OECD.

Background: Some odontogenic cysts (OCs) and odontogenic tumors (OTs) are infiltrative and often recur, causing bone destruction and tooth loss. In the elderly, in particular, these injuries cause significant morbidity, making rehabilitation difficult and compromising the quality of life of these individuals. Objective: To determine the prevalence and demographic characteristics of OCs, non-odontogenic cysts (NOCs), and OTs diagnosed in an elderly Brazilian population (≥60 years).

However, research into infections such as syphilis continues to be neglected in geriatrics.
