Article Synopsis
  • A field experiment was held in Hulu-dao, Liaoning Province, to assess the growth, yield, and fruit quality of Hanfu apples grafted on ten dwarfing interstocks.
  • The study found that tree vigor and fruit traits were significantly influenced by the type of interstock, with GM256 showing superior plant growth and fruit weight, while CX5 excelled in trunk diameter and root characteristics.
  • The evaluation ranked interstocks GM256 and CX5 as the most suitable for the cold climate, based on various performance metrics like fruit firmness and overall character scores.

Here, we report the decrease of JA-sensitivity and enhancement of tolerance to salt and PEG stresses in Arabidopsis overexpressing apple MdJAZ2. As signalling molecules, jasmonates (JAs) play significant roles in plant development and stress responses. JAZ proteins are the targets of the SCF complex and act as the negative regulators in JA signalling pathway.

Anthocyanin and proanthocyanidin (PA) are important secondary metabolites and beneficial to human health. Their biosynthesis is induced by jasmonate (JA) treatment and regulated by MYB transcription factors (TFs). However, which and how MYB TFs regulate this process is largely unknown in apple.

Taking two-year-old peach tree of cv 'Chunjie' as test material, the natural inducing factors of peach bud dormancy and the roles of Ca2+ in the dormancy induction were studied. The results revealed that peach plant was very sensitive to short sunlight and/or natural low temperature. These two factors could induce growth cessation, dormancy, and freezing-resistance development, but their action mechanisms differed with each other.
