Background: Measuring neurocognitive functioning in children requires validated, age-appropriate instruments that are adapted to the local cultural and linguistic context. We sought to evaluate the usability and psychometric properties of five tools that assess general intelligence, executive functioning, and sustained attention among Tanzanian children.
Methods: We adapted five age-appropriate neurocognitive assessment batteries from previously published assessment materials to the Tanzanian context.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to explore the feasibility of using machine learning approaches to objectively differentiate the mobilization patterns, measured via accelerometer sensors, of patients pre- and post-intervention.
Methods: The intervention tested the implementation of a Frailty Care Bundle to improve mobilization, nutrition and cognition in older orthopedic patients. The study recruited 120 participants, a sub-group analysis was undertaken on 113 patients with accelerometer data (57 pre-intervention and 56 post-intervention), the median age was 78 years and the majority were female.

Methods: This was a retrospective, propensity score matched, cohort study of adult patients hospitalized for orthopedic infections from September 30, 2020, to April 30, 2022. Patients discharged on PO antibiotics were matched to patients discharged on IV antibiotics.
Introduction: As malaria declines, low-density malaria infections (LMIs) represent an increasing proportion of infections and may have negative impacts on child health and cognition, necessitating development of targeted and effective solutions. This trial assesses the health, cognitive and socioeconomic impact of two strategies for detecting and treating LMI in a low transmission setting.
Methods And Analysis: The study is a 3-arm open-label individually randomised controlled trial enrolling 600 children aged 6 months to 10 years in Bagamoyo district, Tanzania.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of transitioning to oral therapy compared to continuing parenteral vancomycin in patients with orthopedic infections.

A complex series of equilibria operate during the reaction, and the formation of the bridged species is thermodynamically favored, except in the case of 5-methylfurfural and pyrrole-2-carboxaldehyde. This is the first report detailing this type of aldol/Michael cascade involving oxa-Michael initiation.

Polarized and depolarized Brillouin scattering experiments on molten ZnCl2 were performed between 300 and 600 degrees C in different geometries. VV spectra measured in backscattering and small angle scattering were analyzed with conventional viscoelastic theory using either a Debye or a Cole-Davidson model for the memory function. We also analyzed in the same way the temperature dependence of the transverse Brillouin lines detected in a 90 degrees VH geometry.
