Article Synopsis
- An investigation was conducted in Anhui Province, where 56 rodents (44 Apodemus agrarius and 12 Niviventer niviventer) were trapped to study Orientia tsutsugamushi infection.
- The overall infection rate among the captured rodents was found to be 23.2%, with Apodemus agrarius showing a higher detection rate (27.3%) compared to Niviventer niviventer (8.3%).
- Two genotypes (Karp and Gilliam strains) of the pathogen were identified, marking the first report of these strains in non-endemic regions of Anhui Province and confirming Apodemus agrarius as the primary host for O. tsutsugamushi.
