This study aimed to analyze the expression, clinical significance of filamin A (FLNA) in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and biological effects in a cell line by regulating FLNA expression. Immunohistochemistry and Western blotting were used to analyze FLNA protein expression in 70 cases of RCC and normal tissues to study the relationship with clinical factors. FLNA lentiviral and empty vectors were transfected into RCC to study the influence of up-regulated expression of FLNA.

Methods: Colorectal samples were taken from cancer lesions and adjacent normal tissue in colorectal cancer patients immediately after endoscopic biopsy. A portion of the sample was either fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde and embedded in paraffin for immunohistochemistry or stored in liquid nitrogen for Western blot.

Objective: To investigate the molecular-epidemiologic characteristics and genotypes of human calicivirus (HuCVs) in acute diarrhea patients in Hangzhou from 2009 to 2010.
Methods: Epidemiologic data and fecal specimens were collected from patients with acute diarrhea. HuCVs of 920 specimens were detected by PCR.
This work describes a general approach for preventing protein aggregation and surface adsorption by modifying proteins with β-cyclodextrins (βCD) via an efficient water-driven ligation. As compared to native unmodified proteins, the cyclodextrin-modified proteins (lysozyme and RNase A) exhibit significant reduction in aggregation, surface adsorption and increase in thermal stability. These results reveal a new chemistry for preventing protein aggregation and surface adsorption that is likely of different mechanisms than that by modifying proteins with poly(ethylene glycol).
