Proton (H) NMR spectroscopy presents a powerful tool for biomass mixture studies by revealing the involved chemical compounds with identified ingredients and molecular structures. However, conventional H NMR generally suffers from spectral congestion when measuring biomass mixtures, particularly biomass carbohydrate samples, that contain various physically and chemically similar compounds. In this study, a targeted detection NMR approach, DREAMTIME, is exploited for studying biomass carbohydrate mixtures by spectroscopically targeting the desired compounds in separate 1D NMR spectra.

Background: Understanding the impact of digital health literacy and health information-seeking behavior on the self-perceived health and depression symptoms of older adults is crucial, particularly as the number of older internet users is increasing.

Methods: This study utilized data from the Health Information National Trends Survey to examine the relationship between these factors and the health outcomes of adults aged 50 and above.

Results: The study found that digital health literacy has a positive but non-significant relationship with self-perceived health when other factors are considered.

Congenital radioulnar synostosis (CRUS) presents a complex forearm deformity, requiring precise osteotomy planning for anatomical restoration. This study proposes an automatic osteotomy preoperative planning method for forearms with CRUS. Proximal forearm bones are first aligned with the template forearm and then a dual dimensional optimization (DDO) strategy is used to optimize the spatial transformation parameters of the distal fragment.

Metabolic reprogramming of host cells plays critical roles during viral infection. Itaconate, a metabolite produced from cis-aconitate in the tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA) by immune responsive gene 1 (IRG1), is involved in regulating innate immune response and pathogen infection. However, its involvement in viral infection and underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood.

Background: Dialysis Access (DA) stenosis impacts hemodialysis efficiency and patient health, necessitating exams for early lesion detection. Ultrasound is widely used due to its non-invasive, cost-effective nature. Assessing all patients in large hemodialysis facilities strains resources and relies on operator expertise.

Introduction And Aim: The main categories of drugs employed for medical expulsive therapy in patients with ureteral calculi (UC) are alpha-blockers (α-B) and beta-adrenoceptor agonists. This meta-analysis evaluated the safety and effectiveness of α-B versus mirabegron (MIR) in treating UC.

Methods: From January 1980 to October 2024, we extensively searched the Pubmed, Web of science, Cochrane and EMBASE databases to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared the effectiveness of α-B and MIR in managing UC.

Background: is a member of the lactic acid bacterium group commonly found in many salt-fermented foods. Strains of isolated from high-salinity environments have been shown to tolerate salt stress to some extent. However, the specific responses and mechanisms of under salt stress are not fully understood.

Patchouli oil (PO) is a natural substance famous for its immune-enhancing and anti-inflammatory effects. Atopic dermatitis (AD) is characterized by epidermal gene mutations, skin barrier dysfunction, and immune dysregulation, making patchouli volatile oil a potential candidate for AD treatment. Initially, PO was mixed with ethyl oleate (EO), castor oil ethoxylated ether-40 (EL-40), anhydrous ethanol, and water to form a patchouli oil microemulsion (PO-ME) system.

Estuaries are transitional zones between rivers and marine environments, with intensive human activities. Pollutants pose a threat to the ecological systems of estuaries. Among these pollutants, microplastics and antibiotic resistant genes have gained significant attention due to their potential impacts on estuarine organisms and human health.

Background: Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 4 (TRPM4), a non-selective cation channel, plays a critical role in cardiac conduction abnormalities. Brg1, an ATP-dependent chromatin remodeler, is essential for regulating gene expression in both heart development and disease. Our previous studies demonstrated Brg1 impacted on cardiac sodium/potassium channels and electrophysiological stability, its influence on TRPM4 expression and function remained unexplored.

Objective: To optimize the automated radiosynthesis of the purinergic ion channel receptor 7 (P2X7R) imaging agent F-JNJ64413739 and evaluate its potential for brain imaging in osteoporotic model rats.

Methods: A more electron-deficient nitropyridine was employed as the labeling precursor to facilitate the F-labeling. The radiosynthesis was conducted on an AllinOne synthesis module, and followed by purification via high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Urbanization greatly impacts both the diversity of soil seed banks and the spatial dynamics of species. These seed banks serve as a window into the ecological history and potential for recovery in urban wastelands, which are continually evolving due to urbanization. In this study, we selected 24 plots along urban-rural gradients in Shanghai, China.

Fas has been shown to positively regulate the differentiation of T helper 17 (Th17) cells in mouse models of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). Fas protein expression is regulated by ubiquitination but has not been further studied. In this study, we investigated the role of the Fas ubiquitin ligase in Th17 cell differentiation and highlighted its potential as a therapeutic target for EAE.

The reproductive lifespan of female mammals is determined by the size of the primordial follicle pool, which comprises oocytes enclosed by a layer of flattened pre-granulosa cells. Oocyte differentiation needs acquiring organelles and cytoplasm from sister germ cells in cysts, but the mechanisms regulating this process remain unknown. Previously helicase for meiosis 1 (HFM1) is reported to be related to the development of premature ovarian insufficiency.

Although different types of prognostic indices have been applied in extranodal NK-/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL), they are based mainly on clinical characteristics before treatment. Moreover, these methods lack early assessment and tumor metabolic parameters. It remains unclear whether changes in the plasma Epstein-Barr virus DNA (EBVDNA) status and SUVmax after two cycles of chemotherapy may predict disease prognosis.

With the widespread prevalence of COVID-19, researches have suggested a potential link between androgens and COVID-19 outcomes. However, the relationship between COVID-19 and androgenetic alopecia (AGA)-a condition strongly influenced by androgens-remains controversial in existing studies. Notably, there is a lack of large-scale clinical studies, particularly concerning data on the Chinese population following infection with the Omicron variant.

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a high-production-volume plastic chemical, with ∼98% of its usage in China allocated to producing polycarbonate and epoxy resin, and its fugitive release threatens ecosystems. However, knowledge of its anthropogenic cycles, environmental emissions, and ecological risks remains incomplete, hindering effective plastic lifecycle management. Herein, material flow analysis, multimedia environmental modeling, and ecological risk assessment were integrated to comprehensively map BPA dynamics in China.

This report primarily describes a rare case of an elderly male patient who initially presented with central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) in the left eye and was ultimately diagnosed with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) -associated vasculitis involving the eyes, gastrointestinal tract, and kidneys. However, due to irregular treatment, both eyes developed progressive ocular manifestations later. This article emphasizes the importance of actively screening for and treating underlying conditions in cases of CRAO.

Air-conditioning systems, composed mainly of humidity control and heat reallocation units, play a pivotal role in upholding superior air quality and human well-being across diverse environments ranging from international space stations and pharmacies to granaries and cultural relic preservation sites, and to commercial and residential buildings. The adoption of sorbent water as the working pair and low-grade renewable or waste heat in adsorption-driven air-conditioning presents a state-of-the-art solution, notably for its energy efficiency and eco-friendliness vis-à-vis conventional electricity-driven vapor compression cycles. Here, we introduce a rational π-extension strategy to engineer an ultrarobust and highly porous zirconium metal-organic framework (Zr-MOF).
