Introduction: Straw pellet ration replacing part of silage is of great significance for farmers to save farming costs and solve the lack of feed resources. A comprehensive analysis of rumen microbial and serum metabolite compositions is conducted to promote the development of the modern breeding cows-feeding industry.

Methods: In this study, 18 healthy 2-year-old Simmental breeding cows weighing 550 ± 20 kg were selected and randomly divided into two groups.

Introduction: The gut microbiota significantly influences the host's production performance and health status, with different gastrointestinal tissues exhibiting functional diversity reflected in their microbial diversity.

Methods: In this study, five adult male Tianzhu white yaks (4.5 years old) were selected and fed under the same nutritional conditions.

This study hypothesized that combining oregano essential oil () and yeast cultures (s) would modulate rumen microbiota to promote gastrointestinal homeostasis and function. Twenty-four newborn, healthy, disease-free, crossbred Simmental male calves (birth weight ≥ 35 kg) were assigned to one of four treatments based on birth data. Treatments were as follows: (1) Control (), calves fed calf starter without additives; (2) , calves fed calf starter containing 60 mg/kg body weight () of OEO per day; (3) s, calves fed calf starter containing 45 mg/kg BW of YC per day; and (4) , calves fed calf starter with OEO (60 mg/kg, BW) and YC (45 mg/kg, BW) combination.

As an indigenous species on the Tibetan Plateau, the yak is well adapted to the plateau hypoxic environment. The high-altitude hypoxia adaptation of the yak requires the adaptive reshaping of multiple tissues and organs, especially the lungs. To reveal the adaptive development of yak lungs under hypoxic stress at the tissue and molecular levels, we conducted histomorphological observations as well as transcriptomic and metabolomic studies of yak lungs at three ages (0.

The gene, a prominent member of the FOXO family, has been identified as a potential quantitative trait locus for muscle atrophy and lipid metabolism in livestock. It is also considered a promising candidate gene for meat quality traits such as Warner-Bratzler shear force (WBSF) and water holding capacity (WHC). The aim of this study was to identify sequence mutations in the gene of yaks and to analyze the association of genotypes and haplotypes with meat traits such as WBSF and WHC.

Acetyl-CoA carboxylase beta () is a functional candidate gene that impacts fat deposition. In the present study, we sequenced exon 37-intron 37, exon 46-intron 46, and intron 47 of yak using hybrid pool sequencing to search for variants and genotyped the gene in 593 Gannan yaks via Kompetitive allele-specific polymerase chain (KASP) reaction to determine the effect of variants on carcass and meat quality traits. Seven single nucleotide polymorphisms were detected in three regions.
