Purpose: Assessing scapulothoracic kinematics typically involves visually observing patients during movement, which has limited inter- and intraobserver reliability. Dynamic rasterstereography (DRS) records, measures and visualizes surface structures in real time, using a curvature map to colour-code convex, concave and saddle-shaped structures on the body surface. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of DRS-assisted observation in identifying dyskinetic scapulothoracic patterns.

Purpose: Shoulder stiffness (SS) is a condition characterised by active and passive restricted glenohumeral range of motion, which can occur spontaneously in an idiopathic manner or be associated with a known underlying aetiology. Several treatment options are available and currently no consensus has been obtained on which treatment algorithm represents the best choice for the patient. Herein we present the results of a national consensus on the treatment of primary SS.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze the carrying angle of elite male tennis players during their forehand strokes, hypothesizing that they may overstress their elbows at an abnormal angle before striking the ball.
  • The data was collected from video footage of top-ranked players, measuring the carrying angle just before ball contact, with three independent observers ensuring reliability of the measurements.
  • Results showed an average carrying angle of 11.5° ± 4.7°, lower than previously reported, suggesting that elbow flexion during different stances could increase stress on the elbow joint, potentially explaining some medial injuries in elite players.

Perimyocarditis involves inflammation of the heart muscle and surrounding tissue, causing reduced left ventricular ejection fraction. Typically viral, but occasionally bacterial, this condition can arise from , a rare yet potentially serious pathogen that can lead to cardiac inflammation and subsequent heart failure. Since this bacterium is mainly associated with cat scratch disease-which is self-limiting and has a mild disease course potential role in cardiac disease is underestimated.

Purpose: The optimal screw placement in arthroscopically assisted fixation of radial head fractures is still an issue and no guiding methods have been evaluated in the recent literature. The study hypothesis was that using a "reference k-wire" percutaneously inserted in and parallel to the radiocapitellar joint would enable to achieve a trajectory more parallel to the radial head articular surface as compared to a free-hand k-wire placement.

Methods: Arthroscopically assisted placement of a k-wire in the radial head was performed in seven fresh-frozen human cadaver specimens by three surgeons.

Western diet (WD), high in sugar and fat, promotes obesity and associated chronic low-grade pro-inflammatory environment, leading to impaired immune function, reprogramming of innate and adaptive immune cells, and development of chronic degenerative diseases, including cardiovascular disease. Increased concentrations of circulating and tissue ceramides contribute to inflammation and cellular dysfunction common in immune metabolic and cardiometabolic disease. Therefore, ceramide-lowering interventions have been considered as strategies to improve adipose tissue health.
