Chromosome 18 pericentric inversion carriers could have offspring with recombinant chromosomes, leading to patients with clinical variable manifestations. Patients with 18p-/18q+ rearrangements share some clinical characteristics, while other characteristics differ. Factors for such divergence include the length of the inverted segment, among others.

The present study assessed the reduction of nutrients and organic matter in polluted waters using Myriophyllum aquaticum. Twelve experimental groups were established and distributed in six control groups (CG) and six plant treated groups (PTG). The following analyses were performed in three sampling sets and measured every three days: chemical oxygen demand (COD), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), ammoniacal nitrogen (AN), organic nitrogen (ON), total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN), and total phosphorus (TP).

The influence of impeller type and stirring frequency on the performance of a mechanically stirred anaerobic sequencing batch reactor containing immobilized biomass on an inert support (AnSBBR--Anaerobic Sequencing Batch Biofilm Reactor) was evaluated. The biomass was immobilized on polyurethane foam cubes placed in a stainless-steel basket inside a glass cylinder. Each 8-h batch run consisted of three stages: feed (10 min), reaction (460 min) and discharge (10 min) at 30 °C.

Background: During harvest of the saphenous vein (SV), the most important relationship to take into account is the saphenous nerve (SN) to avoid pain and paresthesias after surgery.

Methods: We harvested the SV and SN in 20 cadaveric lower limbs. Relationships between both structures were recorded using a millimetric ruler, and distances were measured from the medial malleolus at the ankle.

This work reports on experiments for an anaerobic sequencing batch reactor containing immobilized biomass which aimed at verifying the effects of solid-phase mass transfer on the reactor's overall performance. Four experiments were carried out at 30 degrees C with cubic polyurethane foam particles previously inoculated with anaerobic biomass. Different solid-phase mass transfer conditions were reached in each experiment by varying the size of the bioparticle from 0.

Changes in nerve biochemistry, anatomy, and function following injuries to the contralateral nerve have been repeatedly reported, though their significance is unknown. The most likely mechanisms for their development are either substances carried by axoplasmic flow or electrically transmitted signals. This study analyzes which mechanism underlies the development of a contralateral change in protein metabolism.
