Objective: Research has not often delved into the experiences of the Moroccan-heritage community in Western societies. We followed a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative with quantitative methods, applying an intersectionality perspective to analyze the feelings and perceptions of Moroccan-heritage people about their situation in Spain, interaction with Spaniards, perceived discrimination, and metaperceptions to understand their affective reactions to injustice (Studies 1 and 2), and willingness to mobilize (Study 2).

Method: In Study 1, we conducted four discussion groups with Moroccan-heritage women ( = 12) and men ( = 13) separately.

The construction of the first members of a novel family of structurally well-defined, ferrocenyl rich, dendritic macromolecules based on carbosilane skeletons and siloxane linkages has been achieved a convergent growth approach. Starting from triferrocenylvinylsilane FcSiCHCH (1) (Fc = Fe(η-CH)(η-CH) as the key monomer, the sequential utilization of platinum-catalyzed hydrosilylation and alkenylation steps with Grignard reagents (allylmagnesium bromide) can be applied to prepare three different branched structures: multiferrocenyl-terminated dendrons 2 and 3, dendrimers 4 and 5, and dendronized polymers 7n-9n. All of the dendritic metallomacromolecules have been thoroughly characterized using a combination of elemental analysis, multinuclear (H, C, Si) NMR spectroscopy, FT-IR and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, to establish their chemical structures and properties.

The cardiovascular side effects associated with doxorubicin (DOX), a wide spectrum anticancer drug, have limited its clinical application. Therefore, to explore novel strategies with cardioprotective effects, a series of new labdane conjugates were prepared (6a-6c and 8a-8d) from the natural diterpene labdanodiol (1). These hybrid compounds contain anti-inflammatory privileged structures such as naphthalimide, naphthoquinone, and furanonaphthoquinone.

The thiol-yne coupling chemistry of diferrocenylacetylene (FcCCFc) 1, bearing two electron rich and redox-active ferrocenyl units (Fc = Fe(η-CH)(η-CH)) and an internal triple bond, has been investigated for the first time. In order to determine whether steric limitations might affect hydrothiolation, a model reaction using a functionalized monothiol was tested, namely 2-mercaptoethanol I. The thiol-diferrocenylacetylene reactions were initiated either thermally (in toluene with AIBN) or by UV light irradiation (in THF and in the presence of DMPA as the photoinitiator).

Dehydroisohispanolone (DIH), is a labdane diterpene that has exhibited anti-inflammatory activity via inhibition of NF-κB activation, although its potential effects on inflammasome activation remain unexplored. This study aims to elucidate whether DIH modulates NLR family pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome in macrophages. Our findings show that DIH inhibited NLRP3 activation triggered by Nigericin (Nig), adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and monosodium urate (MSU) crystals, indicating broad inhibitory effects.

Stereotypes have important social consequences, such as promoting female discrimination in the workplace, which depends on how women are categorized. Extending prior work, here we analyze how two important female subgroups, women who are categorized as professional or sexy women, are evaluated on key dimensions of stereotype content (morality, sociability, and competence), positive and negative emotions, and facilitation behavioral tendencies (active and passive). To this end, we adapted a previous scale of facilitation tendencies to the working environment.

Research on stereotyping has mainly focused on single social categories such as ethnicity or gender. Extending prior work, here we analyse the effects of the intersection of ethnicity and gender on stereotyping considering the descriptive and prescriptive components of positive and negative stereotype dimensions of morality, sociability and competence. We also examine these interaction effects on the stereotypes-emotions-facilitation behavioural tendencies link.

Acceptance of cultural differences can contribute to diversity. However, naïve realism-the conviction that one's views are objective whereas others' are biased-might hinder intercultural coexistence. We tested, in three experimental studies, whether a cognitive strategy based on raising awareness of the naïve realism, without any reference to culture and free of emotional involvement, can have a beneficial effect on cultural acceptance.

The worldwide spread of a new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) since December 2019 has posed a severe threat to individuals' well-being. While the world at large is waiting that the released vaccines immunize most citizens, public health experts suggest that, in the meantime, it is only through behavior change that the spread of COVID-19 can be controlled. Importantly, the required behaviors are aimed not only at safeguarding one's own health.

Epidemiological studies link long term exposure to xenoestrogen Bisphenol-A to adverse cardiovascular effects. Our previous results show that BPA induces hypertension by a mechanism involving CamKII activation and increased redox stress caused by eNOS uncoupling. Recently, CamKII sustained activation has been recognized as a central mediator of programmed cell death in cardiovascular diseases, including necroptosis.

Introduction: Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is the most common chronic lung disease in childhood, related to prematurity, and the most common cause of pulmonary hypertension (PH) secondary to pulmonary disease in children. Moderate and severe BPD have a worse outcome and relate more frequently with PH. The prediction of moderate or severe BPD development in extremely premature newborns is vital to implement preventive strategies.

The titanium complex [TiCp*(thiosal)(thiosalH)] (1) has been synthesised by reaction of [TiCp*Me], Cp* = η-CMe, with thiosalicylic acid (Hthiosal). Complex 1 reacts with [M(μ-OH)(COD)] (M = Rh, Ir) to yield the corresponding early-late heterobimetallic complexes [TiCp*(thiosal)M(COD)] (M = Rh (2); Ir (3)). Carbon monoxide replaces the COD ligand in 2 and 3 leading to the respective dicarbonyl complexes [TiCp*(thiosal)M(CO)] (M = Rh (4); Ir (5)).

Occupational segregation by gender is one of the major problems faced by professional women in the labor market. Since the sixties, psychological explanations point out that gender stereotypes are responsible for this persistent inequality in the workforce. Nevertheless, most of research has overlooked that emotions are particularly important as the discrimination faced by professional women is better explained by the ambivalent feelings they provoke than by stereotyping.

The authors describe an electrochemical sensor based on the use of diamond nanoparticles (DNPs) and molybdenum disulfide (MoS) platelets. The sensor was applied to the voltammetric determination of the anticonvulsant valproic acid which was previously derivatized with ferrocene. The MoS platelets were obtained by an exfoliation method, and the DNPs were directly dispersed in water and subsequently deposited on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE).
