The TeLeo Program: Tele-education in pediatric oncology as a tool to support training programs in Latin America.

The TeLeo Program offers a free-access 2-year online learning program to support fellowship programs in pediatric oncology, enhance networking opportunities, and facilitate the exchange of context-specific, educational content within the pediatric oncology community in training in Latin America. In its first edition beginning in 2021, 185 fellows from 40 centers in 12 Latin American countries were enrolled. Additional courses for other healthcare professionals related to oncology in the region were produced to further support the program.

The study of catastrophic costs incurred by people affected by tuberculosis (TB), conducted in Colombia during the COVID-19 pandemic, provided the opportunity to implement telephone surveys for data collection. This constitutes a methodological innovation regarding the standards established by the World Health Organization (WHO) which, for this type of study, usually rely on face-to-face surveys of patients attending health facilities. The study design, objectives, and methodology were adapted from the WHO publication .

Hydrogen peroxide and salt stress in radish: effects on growth, physiology, and root quality.

Unlabelled: Hydrogen peroxide (HO) plays a central role in responses to salt stress, a major abiotic stress that impacts crop yield worldwide. Despite the evidence that HO mitigates salt stress and improves post-harvest quality on several species, its effects on radish were not investigated so far. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the exogenous application of HO on salt stress mitigation of radish growth, physiology, and post-harvest quality.

The influenza-like illness (ILI) sentinel surveillance operates in Brazil to identify respiratory viruses of public health relevance circulating in the country and was first implemented in 2000. Recently, the COVID-19 pandemic reinforced the importance of early detection of the circulation of new viruses in Brazil. Therefore, an analysis of the design of the ILI sentinel surveillance is timely.

Cervical cancer remains a significant public health issue, particularly in regions with low screening uptake. This study evaluates the effectiveness of self-sampling and the 7-type HPV mRNA E6/E7 test in improving cervical cancer screening outcomes among a referral population in Mexico. A cohort of 418 Mexican women aged 25 to 65, referred for colposcopy and biopsy due to abnormal cytology results (ASC-US+), participated in this study.

Previous studies have determined that exposure to risk and adversities may impair children's cognitive abilities. In particular, children engaged with Child Protective Services (CPS) seem to be at greater risk for enhanced detrimental effects resulting from the cumulative risk factors to which they are exposed. Its main objective is to establish the infrastructure to allow Spanish participation into international academic collaborative clinical trials, observational studies, and registries in pediatric oncology. The aim of this manuscript is to describe the activity conducted by ECLIM-SEHOP since its creation.

This study examined the role of institutionalization and temperament dimensions on emotion regulation and negative lability in school-aged (6-10 years) children. Mine tailings are one of the primary contaminant sources of heavy metals and metalloids in the soil. Besides increasing the concentration of potentially toxic elements (PTEs), tailings may modify the edaphic conditions and decrease the buffer capacity of impacted soils. The influence of tailings may reach distances far from the impoundments depending on the transport path and the specific transport mean: air, rain (runoff and infiltration), or acid mine drainage.
