This simplifies the self-assembly process as without sufficient bias within the system a mixture of products may be formed. However, with various applications of metallo-supramolecular species having been demonstrated, the ability to generate more intricate architectures is keenly sought after.

Creating a Practice-Based Implementation Network: Facilitating Practice Change Across Health Care Systems.

A proof-of-concept practice-based implementation network was developed in the US Departments of Veteran Affairs (VA) and Defense to increase the speed of implementation of mental health practices, derive lessons learned prior to larger-scale implementation, and facilitate organizational learning. One hundred thirty-four clinicians in 18 VA clinics received brief training in the use of the PTSD checklist (PCL) in clinical care. Two implementation strategies, external facilitation and technical assistance, were used to encourage the use of outcomes data to inform treatment decisions and increase discussion of results with patients.

Quadruply Stranded Metallo-Supramolecular Helicate [Pd(hextrz)] Acts as a Molecular Mimic of Cytolytic Peptides.

[Pd(hextrz)] is a quadruply stranded helicate, a novel bioinorganic complex designed to mimic the structure and function of proteins due to its high stability and supramolecular size. We have previously reported that [Pd(hextrz)] exhibited cytotoxicity toward a range of cell lines, with IC values ranging from 3 to 10 μM. Here we demonstrate that [Pd(hextrz)] kills cells by forming pores within the cell membrane, a mechanism of cell death analogous to the naturally occurring cytolytic peptides.

Excited-State Switching Frustrates the Tuning of Properties in Triphenylamine-Donor-Ligand Rhenium(I) and Platinum(II) Complexes.

The photophysical properties of a series of rhenium(I) tricarbonyl and platinum(II) bis(acetylide) complexes containing a triphenylamine (TPA)-substituted 1,10-phenanthroline ligand have been examined. The complexes possess both metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) and intraligand charge-transfer (ILCT) transitions that absorb in the visible region. The relative energies and ordering of the absorbing CT states have been successfully controlled by changing the metal center and modulating the donating ability of the TPA group through the addition of electron-donating methoxy and electron-withdrawing cyano groups.

Percutaneous thermal ablation for treatment of osteoid osteoma: a systematic review and analysis.

Objective: Although radiofrequency ablation is well validated for treatment of osteoid osteoma, newer technologies, namely cryoablation, have been less thoroughly studied. The purpose is to perform a systematic review and pooled analysis of percutaneous ablation technologies for treatment of osteoid osteoma with subset analysis of intra-articular and spinal tumors.

Material And Methods: A total of 36 of 79 identified manuscripts met inclusion criteria, comprising 1863 ablations in 1798 patients.

A Reduced-Symmetry Heterobimetallic [PdPtL ] Cage: Assembly, Guest Binding, and Stimulus-Induced Switching.

A strategy is presented that enables the quantitative assembly of a heterobimetallic [PdPtL ] cage. The presence of two different metal ions (Pd and Pt ) with differing labilities enables the cage to be opened and closed selectively at one end upon treatment with suitable stimuli. Combining an inert Pt tetrapyridylaldehyde complex with a suitably substituted pyridylamine and Pd ions led to the assembly of the cage.

Planar 2-Pyridyl-1,2,3-triazole Derived Metallo-ligands: Self-assembly with PdCl and Photocatalysis.

Self-assembled metallosupramolecular architectures (MSAs) with built-in functionalities such as light-harvesting metal centers are a promising approach for developing emergent properties within discrete molecular systems. Herein we describe the synthesis of two new but simple "click" ligands featuring a bidentate 2-pyridyl-1,2,3-triazole chelate pocket linked to a monodentate pyridyl (either 3- or 4-substituted, L1 and L2) unit. The ligands and the corresponding four Pd and Pt metallo-ligands (Pd1, Pd2, Pt1 and Pt2) were synthesized and characterized using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), and X-ray crystallography.

The Association of Liposomal Bupivacaine on Opioid Consumption in the Pediatric Alveolar Cleft Population.

Surgical infiltration of liposomal bupivacaine in the adult population has been shown to decrease perioperative use of opioids, but there have been few studies conducted in the pediatric surgical population. The authors' objective was to assess the effect of liposomal bupivacaine on opioid reduction in the pediatric alveolar cleft population. The authors hypothesized that the use of surgical site infiltration with liposomal bupivacaine would be associated with decreased post-operative opioid requirements following alveolar bone grafting.

Disaster debris management best practice case studies.

Objective: To identify debris management best practices for planning and responding to debris-generating disaster events.

Methodology: Four best practice county case studies were selected through the responses of emergency management directors to an initial survey about debris management. Interviews were setup with the emergency management directors, and additional interviewees were identified through snowballing.

Phase II Trial of Carfilzomib Plus Irinotecan in Patients With Small-cell Lung Cancer Who Have Progressed on Prior Platinum-based Chemotherapy.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of carfilzomib plus irinotecan (C/I) in patients with relapsed small-cell lung cancer (SCLC).

Patients And Methods: Patients with SCLC who progressed after 1 platinum-containing regimen for recurrent or metastatic disease were eligible. Patients were stratified as: sensitive (SS) (progressive disease > 90 days after chemotherapy) or refractory (RS) (progressive disease 30 to 90 days after chemotherapy) and received up to 6 cycles of C/I; imaging was performed every 2 cycles.

A Focused Transesophageal Echocardiography Protocol for Intraoperative Management During Orthotopic Liver Transplantation.

The prevalence of lifestyle-related chronic disease is increasing. Doctors in primary care are ideally placed to support patient nutrition care, but recent reviews show education is still lacking. This study aimed to identify medical students' attitudes towards the role of nutrition in health, nutrition knowledge, and perceptions of nutrition education, in postgraduate (Australia) and undergraduate (New Zealand) programs in order to identify gaps in nutrition knowledge and skills to better inform future education.

The 15q11.2 BP1-BP2 (Burnside-Butler) deletion is a rare copy number variant impacting four genes (NIPA1, NIPA2, CYFIP1, and TUBGCP5), and carries increased risks for developmental delay, intellectual disability, and neuropsychiatric disorders (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism, and psychosis). In this case report (supported by extensive developmental information and medication history), we present the complex clinical portrait of a 44-year-old woman with 15q11.

Assessing and Reducing Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography Radiotracer Infiltrations: Lessons in Quality Improvement and Sustainability.

Purpose: Accurate administration of radiotracer dose is essential to positron emission tomography (PET) image quality and quantification. Misadministration (infiltration) of the dose can affect PET/computed tomography results and lead to unnecessary or inappropriate treatments and procedures. Quality control efforts ensure accuracy of the administered dose; however, they fail to ensure complete delivery of the dose into the patient's circulation.

Utility of a Team-Based Multimodal Opioid Reduction Protocol for the Pediatric Plastic Surgery Population.

Opioid use can cause significant adverse side effects with increased propensity toward both short- and long-term complications in the pediatric population. We present a multifaceted opioid reduction protocol based on physician and care team member education. The strategy was designed to alter prescribing practices, improve preoperative and postoperative patient education, increase the use of nonnarcotic pain control modalities, and improve coordination of opiate reduction strategies for all team members participating in patient care.
