Older Texans living in rural areas may face challenges in accessing resources and services not felt by their urban counterparts, especially related to fall risk reduction. In a state the size of Texas, entities wishing to serve these individuals encounter barriers due to the vast geography that must be covered to reach rural communities. This paper explores a novel partnership between a university and a community organization to work toward rural equity in fall risk reduction education in Texas.

[Housing experiences of new mental health service users: Specific characteristics and developmental issues].

Objectives Access to stable, safe, and affordable housing is an important determinant of health and community integration among people living with mental illness. Previous studies on housing stability, housing satisfaction and residential preferences among people living with mental illness have primarily been conducted among those with extensive service use experiences. First-time mental health service users, and youth in particular, are likely to present with distinct housing needs.

Barriers to Effective Infection Prevention in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: A Qualitative Study.

Background: Infection prevention (IP) behaviors such as hand hygiene (HH) and mobile device disinfection are important to reduce the risk of infection transmission from both family members and hospital staff to critically ill neonates.

Purpose: To inform the design of educational interventions to improve both patient family and staff IP behaviors, we engaged separate groups of nurses and family members to understand perceptions about the spread of infection and barriers to implementing effective IP strategies.

Methods: This was a qualitative study using focus groups to gather data from neonatal nurses and patient family members.

Hospital design for inpatient psychiatry: A realistic umbrella review.

The evaluation of the effects of architecture and design in psychiatric hospitals primarily focuses on final outcomes, such as disease progression, and is made from the perspective of evidence-based medicine. Meanwhile, the evidence-informed, realist approach addresses how the intervention works. Understanding the underlying action mechanisms of the intervention is needed to facilitate its scaling-up and adaptation in new environments.

Assessing contributions of DNA sequences at the 3' end of a yeast gene on yFACT, RNA polymerase II, and nucleosome occupancy.

Objective: In past work in budding yeast, we identified a nucleosomal region required for proper interactions between the histone chaperone complex yFACT and transcribed genes. Specific histone mutations within this region cause a shift in yFACT occupancy towards the 3' end of genes, a defect that we have attributed to impaired yFACT dissociation from DNA following transcription. In this work we wished to assess the contributions of DNA sequences at the 3' end of genes in promoting yFACT dissociation upon transcription termination.

Aim: People living with mental illness are more likely than the general population to experience adverse housing outcomes, including homelessness. The aim of the current study is to examine residential status when participants have their first contact with mental health services, and the correlates of residential status at that moment.

The impact of the implementation of medication for opioid use disorder and COVID-19 in a statewide correctional system on treatment engagement, postrelease continuation of care, and overdose.

Background: People with opioid use disorder (OUD) are overrepresented in US correctional facilities and experience disproportionately high risk for overdose after release. Medications for OUD (MOUD) are highly efficacious but not available to most incarcerated individuals. In 2018, Vermont began providing MOUD for all incarcerated individuals with OUD statewide.

Community treatment orders: A qualitative study of stakeholder perspectives.

Introduction: For people with a serious mental disorder, a community treatment order (CTO) is a legal response that requires them to undergo psychiatric treatment unwillingly under certain conditions. Qualitative studies have explored the perspectives of individuals involved in CTOs, including persons with lived experiences of a CTO, family members and mental health care providers, who are directly involved in these procedures. However, few studies have integrated their different perspectives.
