Pulp Calcification in Traumatized Primary Teeth - Classification, Clinical And Radiographic Aspects.

Objective: The aim of this study was to standardize the nomenclature of pulp alteration to pulp calcification (PC) and to classify it according to type, quantity and location, as well as relate it to clinical and radiographic features.

Study Design: The dental records of 946 patients from the Research and Clinical Center for Dental Trauma in Primary Teeth were studied. Two hundred and fifty PC-traumatized upper deciduous incisors were detected.

An unusual case of four simultaneous eruption cysts in an infant.

Eruption cyst is a benign lesion with favorable prognosis that may occur during the primary or permanent dental eruption. The purpose of this paper is to report the case of an infant who presented with multiple eruption cysts (ECs), describe their clinical and histological features, and discuss the treatment performed. The first ECs occurred around the primary mandibular central incisors when the patient was seven months old, which ruptured spontaneously.

Effectiveness of triple-headed toothbrushes and the influence of the person who performs the toothbrushing on biofilm removal.

Purpose: The objectives of this study were 1) to compare the efficacy of biofilm removal with conventional (Bitufo 22) and triple-headed (DenTrust) toothbrushes on smooth and occlusal surfaces, and 2) to verify the influence of the person who performs the toothbrushing (mother vs dentist).

Materials And Methods: Twenty children aged 4 years old with sound, complete primary dentition participated in this crossover study. The quantity of biofilm was evaluated using the bacterial plaque revealer Plaque Test (Vivadent) before and after toothbrushing by the mother or dentist for 1 minute per arch.

Bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaws--an initial case series report of treatment combining partial bone resection and autologous platelet-rich plasma.

Purpose: Bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) is a well-recognized pathologic entity that is challenging and difficult to manage. Recent literature contains several articles, with most recommending conservative management. This report describes a treatment modality for advanced cases of BRONJ that involves bone resection and autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

Tooth loss and subluxation in the primary dentition: a twelve-year follow-up case report.

The case of a five-year-old child is reported, who suffered dento-alveolar injury including subluxation of the right upper lateral incisor and avulsion of the upper central incisors and left upper lateral incisor and laceration in the mucosa. The case was followed for 12 years until complete root formation and alignment of the anterior permanent teeth.

Effects of different pacifiers on the primary dentition and oral myofunctional strutures of preschool children.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the characteristics of the dental arches and some oral myofunctional structures in 36- to 60-month-old children who sucked a pacifier or did not have this habit.

Methods: Sixty-one children were divided into 3 groups: (1) those who never sucked a pacifier, (2) those who exclusively sucked a physiological pacifier, and (3) those who exclusively sucked a conventional one. A clinical examination was performed on the children to observe the relationship between the arches and their width, as well as the following oral myofunctional structures: lips, tongue, cheeks, and hard palate.
