Periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis and cervical adenitis syndrome in children: a brief literature review.

Objective: To describe clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic characteristics of the periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis and cervical adenitis (PFAPA) syndrome.

Data Source: Literature review in the PubMed database by using specific descriptors to identify all articles published in the English language in the last three years; 38 articles were found. After performing selection of titles and abstract analysis, 13 out of the 38 articles were fully read.

Retinopathy of prematurity: risk factors for its development in two neonatal intensive care units in Paraná-Brazil.

Purpose: Evaluate the patients in two neonatal intensive care units in Paraná/Brazil and identify the risk factors for the development of retinopathy of prematurity.

Methods: We performed a prospective cohort study on premature infants with gestational age ≤32 wk and/or with birth weight ≤1500 g who were admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit of Hospital do Trabalhador and Hospital Infantil Waldemar Monastier. These hospitals admit patients referred from other maternity hospitals in the state of Paraná.

Analysis of interleukins 6, 8, 10 and 17 in the lungs of premature neonates with bronchopulmonary dysplasia.

Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is an abnormality that occurs in premature neonate lung development. The pathophysiology is uncertain, but the inflammatory response to lung injury may be the responsible pathway. The objective of this study is to evaluate the role of interleukins 6, 8, 10, and 17 through the anatomopathological and immunohistochemical study of the lungs of premature neonates with BPD.

DERMATOSES IN THE EARLY NEONATAL PERIOD: THEIR ASSOCIATION WITH NEONATAL, OBSTETRIC AND DEMOGRAPHIC VARIABLES.

Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of neonatal dermatoses in the early neonatal period and to associate them with neonatal, demographic and obstetric variables.

Methods: A cross-sectional study with neonates and their respective mothers, who were hospitalized in a public maternity hospital in Curitiba, PR, Brazil. Data collection was performed using information present in the medical records and a physical examination of the newborn during the period between April 2015 and May 2016.

Quality of life in chronic renal patients on hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis: a comparative study in a referral service of Curitiba - PR.

Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) compromises the health and routine of the patient. On the fifth stage of CKD, the patient becomes eligible to start renal replacement therapy: hemodialysis (HD), peritoneal dialysis (PD) or kidney transplantation. The type of CKD treatment is essential to improving quality of life of the patient.

Fungal colonization in newborn babies of very low birth weight: a cohort study.

Objectives: To learn about the profile of fungal colonization and related risk factors in premature newborns.

Methods: Prospective cohort, from 04/01/2010 to 04/31/2011, with 44 patients admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit, born at the hospital maternity, weighing less than 1,500 g. On admission, data were collected on pre-natal care and childbirth.
