Safety of outpatient stem cell mobilization with low- or intermediate-dose cyclophosphamide in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients.

Objectives: Autologous stem cell transplantation is the gold standard for eligible newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients. Patients are usually hospitalized for administration of mobilization chemotherapy. We aimed to assess safety and efficacy of mobilization therapy with low-dose (2 g/m ) and intermediate-dose (3-4 g/m ) cyclophosphamide administered as outpatient.

Peripheral lymphocytes and intracellular cytokines in C282Y homozygous hemochromatosis patients.

Background/aims: Several abnormalities in the immune status of hereditary hemochromatosis patients have been reported. We evaluated the peripheral blood lymphocytes phenotype and cytokine profile of CD8(+) and CD4(+) T cells in C282Y homozygous hereditary hemochromatosis patients compared to control subjects.

Methods: Peripheral blood lymphocytes from 17 asymptomatic patients and 14 control subjects were analyzed.
