Does the order of intraocular pressure measurement affect tonometry results?

Purpose: To determine whether the order of intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement affects readings, regardless of which eye is measured first.

Methods: Intraocular pressure was measured in 31 and 41 dogs using applanation and rebound tonometry, respectively. Initially, IOP was measured in the first (randomly chosen) eye (reading A), followed by measurement in the fellow eye (reading B), and a third (repeated) measurement in the first eye (reading C).

Effects of topical application of 0.4% oxybuprocaine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution and 1% ropivacaine hydrochloride on corneal sensitivity in rats.

The aim of the present study was to determine and compare the degree and duration of corneal anesthesia following topical application of 0.4% oxybuprocaine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution and 1% ropivacaine hydrochloride treatment in healthy rats. A randomized, blinded, crossover study was conducted on 20 healthy adult Wistar rats, following complete physical and ophthalmological examination.

Effects of topical application of tramadol with/without dexmedetomidine and proparacaine on corneal sensitivity in rats.

Purpose: To evaluate the corneal anesthetic effect following topical application of tramadol alone and in combination with dexmedetomidine, and compare it to proparacaine, in clinically healthy rats.

Methods: A randomized, crossover study was performed. Twenty Wistar albino rats (n = 40 eyes) were used.

New alginate-pullulan-bioactive glass composites with copper oxide for bone tissue regeneration trials.

Composites based on sodium alginate, pullulan, and bioactive SiO -CaO-P O glass-ceramics with copper oxide were prepared as capsules. The obtained samples were structurally characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and their bioactivity and biocompatibility properties were also tested both in vitro and in vivo by XRD, FT-IR, SEM, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The fibroblast and osteoblast cell viability assays have shown good proliferation rates for all investigated samples, whereas all composites exhibited a good in vivo tolerance.
