Cochlear dysfunction as an early biomarker of cognitive decline in normal hearing and mild hearing loss.

Introduction: Age-related hearing loss is an important risk factor for cognitive decline. However, audiogram thresholds are not good estimators of dementia risk in subjects with normal hearing or mild hearing loss. Here we propose to use distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAEs) as an objective and sensitive tool to estimate the risk of cognitive decline in older adults with normal hearing or mild hearing loss.

Spondyloenchondrodysplasia with immune dysregulation related to ACP5. A report of 4 cases.

Spondyloenchondrodysplasia with immune dysregulation related to ACP5 (SPENCDI, OMIM number 607944) is an uncommon immune-skeletal dysplasia with heterogeneous manifestations and variable severity. It is characterized by spondylar and metaphyseal lesions, immune dysfunction, and neurological involvement. Here we report the clinical, radiological and genetic aspects of 4 girls with SPENCDI treated at a children's hospital.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to address the pediatrician's opinions, practices and knowledge on the prevention of unintentional injuries.

Design: descriptive and analytical study by anonymous and self-administered survey to pediatricians, in Mendoza, in 2015.

[Feeding practices in children aged under 2 years].

Introduction: Good feeding practices allow to begin and to achieve healthy life styles.

Objectives: To determine the duration of breastfeeding and age of introduction of complementary feeding, its type, composition of the meal and adults who provide it, in healthy children younger than 2 years in the provinces of Mendoza, San Juan and San Luis. To ascertain the social and demographic factors associated with them.

[Folic acid for neural tube defects prevention: consumption and information in fertil-age women in Centro Cuyo Region].

Introduction: Neural tube defects are congenital malformations of brain and spinal cord. There is evidence that adequate amounts of folic acid supply to women before and during early pregnancy decreases the risk of having a neural tube defects affected child. Main sources of folic acid are food rich in folic acid, multivitamins with folic acid supplementation, and folic acid fortification of cereal products.
