Two studies were conducted to assess the Heartland Forgiveness Scale (HFS) for measuring forgiveness in Spanish, addressing a lack of suitable instruments in this language.
The first study with 203 students showed discrepancies between the factors identified and the original HFS structure, prompting further research.
The second study, involving 512 participants, confirmed that a reduced eight-item version of the HFS is valid and reliable for assessing forgiveness in Spanish adults, demonstrating good internal consistency and validity.
