In this case, the clinical appearance resembled the clinical course of a pancreatic cancer and was originated by the ingestion of a fish bone, making the case more interesting and rare.
Case Summary: A 79-year-old female presented to the emergency department with fever, loss of appetite and jaundice.
We here studied some potential factors underlying variation in compliance with preventive behaviors against COVID-19 by studying mask wearing during outdoor recreational activities in a midsize city of Argentina in 2020. The originality of present research relies on the complementation of observational (N = 15,507) and survey (N = 578) data and in assessing the determinants of and disposition to the same preventive behavior across activities. In Study 1, we did 8 weeks of unobtrusive systematic observation of mask wearing in outdoor recreational sites as a function of activity (walking, running, and cycling).

We report a case of an 87-year-old caucasian female who recurred to the emergency department with complaints of a painful mass of the left breast with purulent discharge. Observation revealed a volumous mass in the inferior quadrants of the breast, ill defined, with petrous consistency, areas of necrosis, and inflammatory signs.

The study analyzed the answers to semi-structured questionnaires applied to health policymakers, providers, and professionals from the Brazilian Unified National Health System, referenced on the following dimensions: Geographic Accessibility, Availability, and Acceptability. The analysis pointed to specificities in barriers to access in the five regions, while others such as location and time spent to reach the service were barriers in nearly all of them, based on care for stroke patients.

The 2013 National Health Survey evaluated a sample of Brazilians with 18+ years. The outcome was that individuals reported that their daily activities were moderately, severely or very severely limited (LIMIT) by one or more chronic diseases, or mental, physical, hearing or motor impairment.

The behavior of benefits was determined from the analysis the coefficients of the general and non-judicial grants between 1998 and 2014. The profile was established for the years 2010 and 2014 according to situation of acceptance, age, gender and ICF components.

It describes the patterns of demand and eligibility for Continued Benefit of Social Assistance (Benefício de Prestação Continuada - BPC) in the 1996-2014 period. The article argues that BPC is a direct result of the social pact achieved by the Brazilian Federal Constitution of 1988.

Method: One hundred and eighty-one female patients, aged 19-77 years, were consecutively evaluated. The patients were selected from among those who sought treatment at the TMD and Orofacial Pain Outpatient Clinic of the Petrópolis School of Medicine.
This article aimed to present a proposal for characterizing health regions in Brazil based on human development, contributing to the identification of comparable geographic areas for observation, analysis, and monitoring of performance in regionalized health systems. The dimensions of the Municipal Human Development Index were calculated for the health regions by aggregating data from municipalities, weighted by population size. The grouping of health regions in 5 groups, based on combinations of life expectancy, income, and schooling, was determined by the K-Means method.

In recent decades, a combination of morphology- and DNA-based approaches has become the standard for investigating island plant lineages and this has led, in some cases, to the discovery of previously overlooked diversity, including 'cryptic species'. The flora of the Cape Verde archipelago in the North Atlantic is currently thought to comprise ∼740 vascular plant species, 92 of them endemics.

The anti-tumour potential of these molecules is being studied, although results are still scarce and few data are available regarding the mechanisms underlying such activity. In this work, the anti-tumour activity of a surfactin produced by Bacillus subtilis 573 and a glycoprotein (BioEG) produced by Lactobacillus paracasei subsp.

This study evaluated polymorphisms IL-1RN VNTR and TNFB+252A/G in a population from Southeast Brazil with regard to the risk of chronic gastritis and gastric cancer and the presence of an association of gastric lesions with risk factors such as gender, age, smoking, drinking and Helicobacter pylori infection. In this case-control study, polymorphism at IL-1RN VNTR was investigated using the allele-specific polymerase chain reaction method, while the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism technique was used to identify the TNFB+252A/G genotype in 675 Brazilian individuals [229 with chronic gastritis (CG), 200 with gastric cancer (GC) and 246 healthy individuals as controls (C)].

It is simple to calculate and reflects the health conditions of the most vulnerable segment of the population: children less than one year of age. Official Brazilian data indicating a decrease of 31% in the IMR seem surprising, considering the deterioration in the country's economy, income, and employment.

Objective: To compare adolescent mothers living in four areas with different degrees of social exclusion in the city of Santo André, São Paulo, Brazil, in terms of the mothers' schooling, the birth weight and gestational age of their babies, and the specific fertility rate of each of the four areas in 1998.
Method: An ecological cross-sectional study was carried out with 1 314 adolescent girls. The four areas analyzed had earlier been defined in the City of Santo André Social Exclusion/Inclusion Map.
Background: Current noninvasive tests to confirm the eradication of Helicobacter pylori must be performed 4 weeks or more after eradication therapy is completed.
Objective: To determine whether the stool antigen test, a relatively new noninvasive test for H. pylori, administered at various times after eradication therapy correctly identifies persons with persistent H.
