Background: Short-course partial brain radiotherapy ± chemotherapy for older patients with GBM extends survival but there is no validated evidence for prediction of individual risk of acute radiotherapy-related side effects.

Methods: This prospective multicentre observational trial recruited patients with newly diagnosed GBM aged ≥65 planned for cranial radiotherapy. Baseline MRI scans were analyzed for markers of brain resilience including relative total brain volume (ratio of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) volume to total intracranial volume (TIV)) and their relationship to change in quality of life (QoL).

Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and most lethal primary brain tumor in adults. Clinical trials in older patients with GBM have explored the use of single and multimodality treatment regimens with modest survival benefits; however, trial criteria are commonly based on chronological age and do not reflect the heterogeneity of this cohort. Geriatric assessment (GA) techniques predict survival and treatment tolerance in other tumor sites and thus may objectively guide the decision-making process, but data are lacking in the neuro-oncology cohort.

We investigated uptake of short-course chemo-radiotherapy and compared outcomes with other treatment schedules in elderly patients with glioblastoma (GBM). Patients aged 65 or over with a diagnosis of GBM were identified from an 18-month period from three centers in the UK. The primary end point of this study was overall survival from the date of diagnosis.

Purpose: Our purpose was to describe the patterns and predictors of treatment failure in patients receiving definitive chemoradiation therapy (CRT) for anal squamous cell carcinoma (ASCC), delivered using intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).
