Background: Unintended durotomy is a well-recognised complication of lumbar spine surgery. Reported complications include headaches, intracranial haematomata, pseudomeningocoele and infection. Methods of intraoperative repair vary and although post-operative flat bed rest is advocated by some, there is no consensus on duration.

Purpose: We present our experience with the reconstruction of synchronous urethral strictures.

Materials And Methods: Of 482 anterior urethroplasties performed by a single surgeon between 1997 and 2008 we identified and reviewed 30 patients who underwent reconstruction for multiple separate strictures. An ascending approach from distal to proximal was used and all repairs were completed at 1 stage.

Background: E75 is an immunogenic peptide from the HER2/neu protein that is expressed in prostate cancer. High-risk prostate cancer (HRPC) patients demonstrating varying levels of HER2/neu expression were vaccinated with E75 peptide plus granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor to prevent postprostatectomy PSA and clinical recurrences.

Study Design: Forty evaluable HRPC patients were prospectively identified using the validated Center for Prostate Disease Research/CaPSURE high-risk equation and enrolled.

Background: The large and variable size of the renal vein has prompted most surgeons to select linear stapling devices to secure the vein during laparoscopic donor nephrectomy. Although effective, these stapling devices have a potential for misfire. Use of the nonabsorbable polymer ligating (NPL) clip during laparoscopic donor nephrectomy provides increased graft vessel length compared with the stapling device, and the NPL clip has a locking mechanism which may increase security compared with standard titanium clips.
