Interprofessional co-treatment practices in the allied health professions: a scoping review.

Interprofessional co-treatment occurs when practitioners from different professions engage in collaborative practice during the same session with the same patient or client. While interprofessional co-treatment is common practice in many settings, there are no known studies that have synthesized the available literature across professions on this interprofessional intervention. A scoping review was conducted to explore the nature and volume of the literature on interprofessional co-treatment involving six allied health professions.

Heart failure self-management: a scoping review of interventions implemented by allied health professionals.

Background: Heart failure (HF) is typically managed using both medical and patient self-management interventions. Individuals with HF often have frequent readmissions to hospital for medical management. Effective self-management can help to reduce the exacerbation of HF symptoms and the frequency of readmissions.

Explaining variance in self-directed learning readiness of first year students in health professional programs.

Background: Self-directed learning (SDL) is expected of health science graduates; it is thus a learning outcome in many pre-certification programs. Previous research identified age, gender, discipline and prior education as associated with variations in students' self-directed learning readiness (SDLR). Studies in other fields also propose personality as influential.

Factors related to self-directed learning readiness of students in health professional programs: A scoping review.

Background: Academic and professional drivers have stimulated interest in self-directed learning of students in pre-certification health professional programs. Particular attention has focussed on factors which may influence a students' readiness for self-directed learning.

Method: A five stage structured scoping review of published literature was conducted to identify measures of self-directed learning readiness used with students in pre-certification health professional programs and those factors that have been investigated as potential determinants.
