International Survey of Psychosocial Care for Cancer Survivors in Low-/Middle- and High-Income Countries: Current Practices, Barriers, and Facilitators to Care.

Purpose: The number of cancer survivors living with and beyond cancer treatment is rising globally. It is fundamental to understand the extent and type of psychosocial care services offered worldwide. We evaluated models of cancer survivorship care, psychosocial care practices in the post-treatment survivorship phase, and barriers/facilitators to delivery of psychosocial care services, including in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Ultra high-frequency ultrasound with seventy-MHz transducer in hair disorders: Development of a novel noninvasive diagnostic methodology.

Background: Ultra high-frequency ultrasound (uHFUS) is a recently developed diagnostic technology. Despite its potential usefulness, no study has assessed its advantage in diagnosis and evaluation of hair disorders in comparison with other diagnostic methods.

Objectives: To assess the practicability of uHFUS in diagnosing hair disorders and propose a diagnostic methodology.

A long term physical and biogeochemical database of a hyper-eutrophicated Mediterranean micro-estuary.

Ruppin's Estuarine and Coastal Observatory (RECO) is a Long-Term Ecological Research station positioned on the East Mediterranean shoreline between Tel-Aviv and Haifa, Israel. We present a comprehensive online database and an accompanying website that provides direct access to the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of the local coastal marine ecosystem and the Alexander micro estuary. It includes three databases that are updated continuously since 2014: a) In situ stationary sensors data (10 min intervals) of surface and bottom temperature, salinity, oxygen and water level measured at three stations along the estuary.

Design of a Subtarsal Ultrasonic Transducer for Mild Hyperthermia Treatment of Dry Eye Disease.

Dry eye disease is a disorder of the ocular surface that causes pain and low vision in a significant portion of the adult population. A common cause is obstructive Meibomian gland dysfunction, whereby the Meibomian glands secrete abnormal meibum with a melting point elevated by 3°C-4°C; hence, hyperthermia is the typical treatment. A design is proposed for an ultrasound hyperthermia device made of a transducer contained inside a contact lens with an internal air gap.

[The use of interviews in participative intervention and research: the GAM tool as a collective interview].

This paper seeks to assess a way of conducting interviews in line with the ideology of Brazilian Psychiatric Reform. In the methodology of participative intervention and research in mental health, the interview is less a data collection than a data harvesting procedure. It is designed to apply the principles of psychosocial care, autonomy as the basis for treatment, the predominance of the users and of their social networks and civic participation.

Ethical process in human research published in thoracic surgery journals.

Background: Media reports of ethical transgressions in research with human subjects have increasingly focused attention on clinical investigators and have served to undermine public confidence in medical research. A series of editorials in The Annals of Thoracic Surgery and The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in 2002 and 2003 emphasized integrity in research publication. We investigated the extent to which the ethical process was mentioned in reports of thoracic surgical research with human subjects since 2002.

Congenital Heart Surgery Nomenclature and Database Project: palliation, correction, or repair?

Background: Inconsistent use of the terms palliation, repair, and correction, fosters unclear thinking about the goals of cardiac operation. Actual usage of these terms has not been previously documented.

Methods: Every article, for two years, pertaining to congenital heart disease in The Annals of Thoracic Surgery and The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery was systematically inspected for terms of classification.
