The circadian clock controls the expression of nearly 50% of protein coding genes in mice and most likely in humans as well. Therefore, disruption of the circadian clock is presumed to have serious pathological effects including cancer. However, epidemiological studies on individuals with circadian disruption because of night shift or rotating shift work have produced contradictory data not conducive to scientific consensus as to whether circadian disruption increases the incidence of breast, ovarian, prostate, or colorectal cancers.

Engaging families in school-based preventive interventions for aggressive youth can be especially challenging. The current article describes an integration of a parent engagement model, called the Family Check-Up, with an evidence-based intervention for youth with aggressive behaviours called Coping Power. This preliminary study asked allied health professionals to express their awareness of the tenure guidelines and criteria. Although a few variations in beliefs emerged based upon appointment type and personal experiences, three primary themes emerged: (1) limited understanding of the tenure guidelines and criteria, (2) research/scholarship is necessary, but perceived as difficult for allied health faculty, and (3) tenure is desirable, but is considered unachievable by some.
