Objective: Despite treatment advances, pain remains a serious problem for many children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). To better understand pain in children with JIA and identify potentially modifiable factors, this study evaluated Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) Pediatric Pain Interference (PI) and its relationships with other pain measures and demographic, clinical, psychosocial, and functional variables.
Methods: This cross-sectional, observational, multicenter study used descriptive statistics and a mix of bivariate and multivariable analyses to describe PI and characterize relationships with other measures and variables.
Objectives: Evaluate construct validity of Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) Paediatric measures of symptoms and functioning against measures of disease activity among youth with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) or systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
Design: Cross-sectional associations among PROMIS measures and clinical metrics of disease activity were estimated.
Setting: Seven clinical sites of the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Alliance (CARRA) in the USA.

If oncology nurses could identify patients likely to have pronounced chemotherapy-related adverse events, tailored supportive care could be matched to these patients' symptom burdens.

Background: Studies of adults with Crohn's disease (CD) suggest that poor mental health precedes worsening disease activity. We evaluated whether depression and/or anxiety forecast worsening pediatric CD disease activity.
Methods: Through the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Partners Kids & Teens internet-based cohort, children with CD age 9 to 17 completed Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) Pediatric measures and the short Crohn's disease activity index (sCDAI).
Objectives: Patient-reported outcome measures allow children to directly report on their health and well-being. We assessed the construct validity and responsiveness of the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) Pediatric measures in children and adolescents with ulcerative colitis (UC).
Methods: Through the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Partners Kids & Teens' Internet-based cohort, children with UC reported symptoms related to disease activity (Pediatric Ulcerative Colitis Activity Index), IMPACT-III health-related quality of life measure, and 5 PROMIS Pediatric measures (anxiety, depressive symptoms, pain interference, fatigue, and peer relationships).
Importance: Adult patients are considered the best reporters of their own health-related quality of life (HRQOL). Self-report in pediatrics has been challenged by a limited array of valid measures. Caregiver report is therefore often used as a proxy for child report.
