Older adults tend to be in a more positive mood than young adults, and tend to remember positive information more often than negative information, yet the link between their positive mood and their positive memory bias has not often been explored. In this study, we manipulated young and older adults' moods prior to their completing an emotional memory task. For mood manipulation, young ( = 147) and older ( = 111) adults viewed a positive, negative, or neutral video lasting 3 min.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Courtney Kannampuzha"

  • - Courtney Kannampuzha's recent research focuses on the interplay between aging, mood, and emotional memory, particularly the positive memory bias observed in older adults.
  • - In her 2022 study, she investigated how manipulating the mood of both young (147 participants) and older adults (111 participants) through video interventions influences their performance on emotional memory tasks.
  • - The findings suggest that older adults not only experience a more positive mood but also tend to recall positive information more frequently than negative, highlighting the need for further investigation into the underlying mechanisms of this positive memory bias.
