Objectives: Despite widespread efforts to reduce emergency department (ED) visits, patients newly diagnosed with cancer often use the ED for commonly anticipated acute care needs. Existing delivery innovations to reduce ED use are underused, and reasons for this are not understood. Patients who recently visited the ED may provide insights into these patterns of care.

However, implementing meaningful and effective engagement is complex.
Methods: This article profiles five research initiatives involving different lived experience engagement structures, situated in a single tertiary care teaching and research hospital.
Background: Using the Mood and Feelings Questionnaire (MFQ) to differentiate between depression severity levels remains unexplored. We explored the discriminative validity of the MFQ to identify an optimal cut-off MFQ score to distinguish between subthreshold-to-mild and moderate-to-severe depression severity levels.
Methods: An observational cross-sectional design was used in a sample (N = 67) of help-seeking youth (ages 13 to 18, inclusive) experiencing depressive symptoms.
Background: Sepsis is a life-threatening condition but predicting its development and progression remains a challenge.
Objective: This study aimed to assess the impact of infection site on sepsis development among emergency department (ED) patients.
Methods: Data were collected from a single-center ED between January 2016 and December 2019.
Background: Academic emergency medicine (EM) is foundational to the EM specialty through the development of new knowledge and clinical training of resident physicians. Despite recent increased attention to the future of the EM workforce, no evaluations have specifically characterized the U.S.

Viruses such as influenza A viruses (IAV) interact with RBPs to regulate processes including splicing, nuclear export and trafficking, while also encoding RBPs within their genomes, such as NP and NS1. But with almost 1000 RBPs encoded within the human genome it is still unclear what role, if any, many of these proteins play during viral replication.

Herein, we describe a straightforward biochemical approach modified from two original published Ψ mapping protocols, BID-seq and PRAISE, to specifically identify pseudouridine modifications on mRNA transcripts from an HIV-1 infected T cell line. This protocol could readily be adapted for other viral infected cell types and additionally for populations of purified virions from infected cells.

Recent studies focusing on the RBP interactomes of viral mRNAs, notably SARS-Cov-2, have revealed both similarities and differences between the RBP profiles of viral and cellular mRNAs. However, the RBPome of influenza virus mRNAs remains unexplored.

The purpose of this study is to identify potential screen failure events during evaluation for intervenable acute ischemic stroke events among Spanish-speaking patients.
Methods: This is a retrospective, observational, single-center study at an urban academic center during 2020.
Introduction: Emergency medicine (EM) has historically been among the most competitive specialties in the United States. However, in 2022 and 2023, 219 of 2921 and 554 of 3010 respective National Resident Matching Program positions were initially unfilled. Medical students' selection of a medical specialty is a complex process.

The core pathway components are assessment, psychoeducation, psychotherapy options, medication options, caregiver support, measurement-based care team reviews and graduation. We aim to test the clinical and implementation effectiveness of the CARIBOU-2 pathway relative to treatment-as-usual (TAU) in community mental health settings.

We assessed racial and ethnic differences in COVID-19 positivity and outcomes in patients presenting to EDs in the USA, and the effect of the phase of the pandemic on these outcomes.
Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of adult patients tested for COVID-19 during, or 14 days prior to, the index ED visit in 2020.
Aim: Depressive disorders in adolescents are common and impairing. Evidence-based treatments are available; however, at a cost. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, we anticipate increased demand for treatment services for adolescents with depression.

Objective: To estimate the global prevalence and years lived with disability (YLDs) associated with mental disorders and substance use disorders (SUDs) across 4 age groups using data from the 2019 Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study.
Design, Setting, And Participants: Data from the 2019 GBD study were used for analysis of mental disorders and SUDs.
The β-Oxidation pathway, normally involved in the catabolism of fatty acids, can be functionally made to act as a fermentative, iterative, elongation pathway when driven by the activity of a -enoyl-CoA reductase. The terminal acyl-CoA reduction to alcohol can occur on substrates with varied chain lengths, leading to a broad distribution of fermentation products . Tight control of the average chain length and product profile is desirable as chain length greatly influences molecular properties and commercial value.

Personalising interventions by targeting factors associated with poor treatment outcomes may enhance the effectiveness of interventions. We report the development and initial evaluation of an intervention designed to target caregiver-adolescent relationship problems in the context of adolescent depression.

The biological mechanisms underlying this are unknown. We aimed to examine the levels of serum intrinsic antiviral proteins as well as alterations in the innate antiviral immune response in patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis.

Many cancer care providers have 24/7 clinician phone triage available, but initial recorded phone messages tend to advise patients to go to the nearest ED if they are "experiencing a medical emergency." It is unclear how well patients triage themselves to the optimal site of care.
