Multi-omic signatures of host response associated with presence, type, and outcome of enterococcal bacteremia.

Unlabelled: Despite the prevalence and severity of enterococcal bacteremia (EcB), the mechanisms underlying systemic host responses to the disease remain unclear. Here, we present an extensive study that profiles molecular differences in plasma from EcB patients using an unbiased multi-omics approach. We performed shotgun proteomics and metabolomics on 105 plasma samples, including those from EcB patients and healthy volunteers.

Outcomes in chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients on novel agents in the US Veterans Health Administration System.

The US veteran population has a high proportion of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) risk factors. Using the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) population, we conducted a retrospective chart review of 1205 CLL patients who initiated treatment with a novel oral agent. For 1L ibrutinib, 33% ( = 107) discontinued therapy during the study, of which 64% discontinued due to adverse events (AEs).

Pharmacist counseling when dispensing naloxone by standing order: A secret shopper study of 4 chain pharmacies.

Background: Texas has passed legislation to increase access to naloxone, the opioid overdose antidote, allowing pharmacists to dispense by standing order without an outside prescription. Given this added responsibility, there is a need to assess real-world counseling provided by pharmacists when dispensing naloxone.

Stop the Bleed: An Interprofessional Community Service Learning Project Assessing the Efficacy of Pharmacist-Led Hemorrhage Control Education for Laypersons.

Objectives: Stop the Bleed (STB) is a national initiative that provides lifesaving hemorrhagic control education. In 2019, pharmacists were added as health-care personnel eligible to become STB instructors. This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of pharmacist-led STB trainings for school employees in South Texas.

Rhabdomyolysis Associations with Antibiotics: A Pharmacovigilance Study of the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS).

Daptomycin, macrolides, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, linezolid, fluoroquinolones, and cefdinir are known to be associated with rhabdomyolysis. Other antibiotics may also lead to rhabdomyolysis, but no study has systemically compared rhabdomyolysis associations for many available antibiotics. The objective of this study was to evaluate the association between rhabdomyolysis and many available antibiotics using the FDA Adverse Event Report System (FAERS).
