Experiments were conducted in physiological buffered saline (PBS) or mature bovine synovial fluid (SF). A total of 63 samples were tested, of which 47 exhibited wear damage due to delamination of the cartilage surface initiated in the middle zone, with no evidence of abrasive wear.
