Micheliolide (MCL) is a naturally occurring sesquiterpene lactone that selectively targets leukemic stem cells (LSCs), which persist after conventional chemotherapy for myeloid leukemias, leading to disease relapse. To overcome modest MCL cytotoxicity, analogs with ≈two-threefold greater cytotoxicity against LSCs are synthesized via late-stage chemoenzymatic C-H functionalization. To enhance bone marrow delivery, MCL analogs are entrapped within bone-targeted polymeric nanoparticles (NPs).

The need for accessible, affordable, quality health care in the United States has never been greater. In response to this need, convenient care clinics (CCCs) are being launched across the country to help provide care to meet the basic health needs of the public. Although the use of over the counter (OTC) nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) is effective for smoking cessation, many concerns and misunderstandings persist that may reduce the effectiveness of NRT. Clinical practice and public health experts responded to a questionnaire that explored challenges associated with promoting proper NRT use and gathered recommendations on overcoming these challenges. Two predominant themes emerged including the identification of policies and practices that hinder NRT use, and smokers' views regarding NRT use.

A "market map" comparison methodology for cigarette smoke chemistry yields is presented. Federal Trade Commission machine-method smoke chemistry was determined for a range of filtered cigarettes from the US marketplace. These data were used to develop illustrative market maps for each smoke constituent as analytical tools for comparing new or non-conventional cigarettes to a sampling of the broader range of marketplace cigarettes.

The study objectives were to determine the effects of smoking machine puffing parameters on mainstream smoke composition and to express those effects as predicting relationships. Forty-eight commercial Philip Morris USA and Philip Morris International cigarettes from international markets and the 1R4F reference cigarette were machine-smoked using smoking conditions defined by the International Organization of Standardization (ISO), the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH), and Health Canada (HC). The study objective is evaluation of a benchmark approach for predicting mainstream smoke constituent machine-yields for conventional cigarette brands from worldwide markets. GENESIS (General Ethnographic and Nursing Evaluation Studies In the State) is a tested and proven community analysis strategy that integrates ethnographic and epidemiologic data to arrive at a comprehensive, holistic description of the health of a community and its residents. Communities analyzed in most project GENESIS studies have been rural or semirural. ACTION (Assessing Communities Together in the Identification Of Needs) is an extension of the GENESIS community analysis model that was developed to meet the unique needs of community-level research and analysis in an urban, multicultural setting.

This article describes a method of linking curriculum and the nursing role in health policy. Graduate students participated in a project to assess the impact of policy on the health of a community and the implications for nursing. The experience of this project indicates that learning about policy within a community context has merit for helping students understand the impact of policy on nursing.

This exploratory study was designed to begin analysis on the "Faculty Work Plan" and its potential for faculty role development in a university setting. The specific goals were: (1) to identify the degree of congruence between faculty work plans and the school goals; and (2) to determine the relationship between faculty work plan/school goal congruence, faculty productivity, potency, and job satisfaction. The sample was composed of 26 respondents, 26 to 50 years old, from a pool of 48 full-time faculty members affiliated with a school of nursing in a university setting.
