Introduction: Young childbearing sexual minority (SM) people are more likely to use cannabis and to have an unintended pregnancy than their heterosexual peers; however, little is known about their perceptions and experiences of peripartum cannabis use. This qualitative study explores the relationships young pregnant and parenting SM people have with cannabis, as well as their feelings and opinions about prenatal cannabis use.
Method: Participants who identified as SM from baseline surveys of the YoungMoms study were recruited for semi-structured qualitative interviews (n = 13).
Lung cancer is a serious global health issue that requires the development of patient-specific, lung cancer model for surgical planning to train interventionalists and improve the accuracy of biopsies. Although the emergence of three-dimensional (3D) printing provides a promising solution to create customized models with complicated architectures, current 3D printing methods cannot accurately duplicate anatomical-level lung constructs with tumor(s) which are applicable for hands-on training and procedure planning. To address this issue, an embedded printing strategy is proposed to create respiratory bronchioles, blood vessels, and tumors in a photocurable yield-stress matrix bath.

Objectives: Living apart together (LAT)-intimate partners living in separate households-is a common partnership type among older adults. Although the mental health benefits of intimate partnerships are widely documented, how LAT relates to older adults' mental health remains understudied.
Methods: Analyzing Waves 3-13 (2011-2023) of the United Kingdom Household Longitudinal Study, we use fixed effects models to examine (1) how older adults' mental health varies with LAT, marriage, cohabitation, and singlehood (never married, widowed, divorced/separated); and (2) how transitions into and out of LAT, compared to marriage and cohabitation, relate to older adults' mental health.
Background: Research on alcohol-related problems often examines individual problem types in isolation or uses scales that provide a single cumulative severity score for alcohol-related harms. This study aims to assess the patterns of seventeen distinct alcohol-related problems and how they co-occur.
Methods: The East Bay Neighborhood Study surveyed a community sample of 864 adults who drank in the past year in Alameda County, California.

Objective: Developing a better mechanistic and multilevel understanding of sexual violence on college campuses can help us evaluate and implement existing interventions, as well as develop new ones. We brought together scientists, practitioners, and college students to collaboratively characterize the systems surrounding alcohol-involved sexual violence on college campuses. Using collaborative model-building, they created models that highlight interconnected and multilevel influences and consequences of sexual violence.

We piloted online human-centered design (HCD) methodology to engage SGDY in generating ARA intervention ideas. This study evaluated the acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility of the online methods and identified SGDY-derived intervention ideas for reducing ARA.

The goal of this study was to investigate the nicotine and tobacco experiences and motivations of sexual minority people before and during pregnancy.
Methods: Pregnant and birthing individuals ages 16-24 who identified as a sexual minority in an online survey were recruited for semi-structured video interviews about nicotine and tobacco use.
Introduction: Pregnant persons with opioid use disorder (OUD) face a multitude of comorbid conditions that may increase the risk of adverse drug and health outcomes. This study characterizes typologies of comorbidities among pregnant persons with OUD and assesses the associations of these typologies with hospitalizations in the first year postpartum.
Methods: A cohort of pregnant persons with OUD at delivery in 2018 were identified in a Pennsylvania statewide hospital dataset (n = 2055).
Sexual minority (e.g., gay/lesbian, bisexual, and queer) students are more likely than their heterosexual peers to experience sexual violence (SV) during college.

SHS and PrEP are underutilized, sequential screening, and prevention practices. This study aimed to understand factors impacting the implementation of SHS and PrEP at a multi-site federally qualified health center (FQHC) in Connecticut.

We conducted a cross-sectional analysis of data collected from a cohort of pregnant adolescents and young adults between October 2019 and May 2023 ( = 398). Logistic regression was completed to assess IPV and reproductive coercion as a function of plurisexual identity.

Creating tissue and organ equivalents with intricate architectures and multiscale functional feature sizes is the first step toward the reconstruction of transplantable human tissues and organs. Existing embedded ink writing approaches are limited by achievable feature sizes ranging from hundreds of microns to tens of millimeters, which hinders their ability to accurately duplicate structures found in various human tissues and organs. In this study, a multiscale embedded printing (MSEP) strategy is developed, in which a stimuli-responsive yield-stress fluid is applied to facilitate the printing process.

This study aims to investigate the associations between sociodemographic and health characteristics and the receipt of eye care among children aged 17 years and younger in the United States.
Design: This cross-sectional study used data from the National Survey of Children's Health (NSCH), a nationally representative and population-based survey of randomly sampled households.
Background: High school staff can play a key role in supporting students with LGBTQ+ identities through informal strategies; however, more research is needed to understand how staff are employing these strategies.
Methods: We conducted semi-structured interviews, collecting information on informal strategies used to support students identifying as LGBTQ+ from a diverse sample of 23 school staff from high schools across the United States.
Results: Staff employed informal support strategies across social ecological levels: within the school community, staff interacted with parents/guardians of students and advocated for more inclusive policies.
Background: Although prescribing and deprescribing practices in older people have been the subject of much research generally, there are limited data in older people at the end of life. This highlights the need for research to determine prescribing and deprescribing patterns, as a first step to facilitate guideline development for medicines optimisation in this vulnerable population.
Aims: To examine prescribing and deprescribing patterns in older people at the end of life and to determine the prevalence of potentially inappropriate medication use.
Purpose: In 2018, there were 68 million sexually transmitted infections in the United States. Sexual history screening is an evidence-based practice endorsed by guidelines to identify risk of these infections and adverse sexual health outcomes. In this mixed methods study, we investigated patient- and clinician-level characteristics associated with receipt of sexual history screening, and contextualized these differences in more depth.

Having access to tailored mental health resources is a documented concern for rural living LGBTQ+ youth. This cross-sectional study examined the relationships between sexual history screening (SHS) and referrals to a pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) navigator (non-clinical staff member who assists patients in overcoming structural barriers to PrEP) on the proportion of days covered by PrEP for adult patients at a federally qualified health center. Patients' sociodemographics, PrEP prescriptions, referral to a PrEP navigator, and SHS data were extracted from the electronic health record (EHR). The analytic sample was 214 adult patients who were human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) negative and taking PrEP to prevent infection from January 2016 to December 2019.

The objectives of our study were to examine recreational screen time behavior before and 2 years following the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, and explore whether components of the capability-opportunity-motivation-behavior (COM-B) model would predict changes in this recreational screen time behavior profile over the 2-year period. This cross-sectional, retrospective study was conducted in March 2022. Canadian adults ( = 977) completed an online survey that collected demographic information, current screen time behavior, screen time behavior prior to the pandemic, and beliefs about capability, opportunities, and motivation for limiting screen time based on the COM-B model.
