In women, breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer, and despite advancements in diagnosis and treatment, 20-30% of early stage BC patients develop metastatic disease. Metastatic BC is deemed an incurable disease, which accounts for 90% of BC related deaths, with only 26% of metastatic patients reaching a 5 year survival rate. Therefore, there is an unmet need for the prevention or treatment of metastasis in early stage breast cancer patients.

Methods: Clinicians from four clinical areas undertook a simulated emergency.
We present a systematic study of the mode-specific vibrational relaxation of NO in six weakly-interacting solvents (perfluorohexane, perfluoromethylcyclohexane, perfluorodecalin, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, and d-chloroform), chosen to elucidate the dominant energy transfer mechanisms in the solution phase. Broadband transient vibrational absorption spectroscopy has allowed us to extract quantum state-resolved relaxation dynamics of the two distinct NO fragments produced from the 340 nm photolysis of NO → NO(X) + NO(A) and their separate paths to thermal equilibrium. Distinct relaxation pathways are observed for the NO bending and stretching modes, even at energies as high as 7000 cm above the potential minimum.

Here we show that unique insights into solute dynamics can be made with perfluorinated solvents, which interact weakly with solutes and provide a simplified liquid environment that helps to bridge the gap in our understanding of gas- and liquid-phase dynamics. Specifically, we show that in such solvents, the translational and rotational cooling of an energetic CN radical can be observed directly using ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy.

This study aimed to assess the perceptions of the short CAM for delirium screening amongst health-care workers in specialist palliative care inpatient units (SPCUs) and to investigate its use as a screening instrument.
Methods: Patients in 5 SPCUs in the North East of England were screened for delirium using the short CAM and a staff survey assessed the acceptability of the short-CAM in this setting.

Femtosecond transient electronic and vibrational absorption spectroscopies have been used to investigate the nonradiative relaxation pathways of oxybenzone in cyclohexane and methanol after excitation in the UVA region. The tumours consisted largely of simple cells lining tubules that were occasionally cystic or branching and budding, and were set in loose, vascular and often haemorrhagic stroma.

Three cases of traumatically induced inclusion cyst affecting the dorsal aspect of the first metatarsophalangeal joint are presented. Though each case was unique, the clinical presentation was similar with patients relating discrete callus formation with a central sinus overlying an enlarging mass. In all cases, the lesion site involved the dorsal first metatarsophalangeal joint and specifically corresponded to the throatline of "pump" shoes that these patients commonly wore.
