Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to analyze how systematic screening for Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) and Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) affects the spread of these infections among men who have sex with men (MSM) in France, employing a detailed modeling approach.
  • - Results showed that different testing strategies, such as screening multiple sites simultaneously and increasing testing frequency, could significantly reduce the incidence rates of NG and CT, with the most effective strategies achieving reductions between 14% and 40%.
  • - Overall, the findings suggest that while enhanced screening can help control the spread, additional combined interventions are necessary to effectively reduce the incidence of these infections beyond 50%.

Opioid substitution and syringes exchange programs have drastically reduced hepatitis C virus (HCV) spread in France but HCV sexual transmission in men having sex with men (MSM) has recently arisen as a significant public health concern. The fact that the virus is transmitting in a heterogeneous population, with different transmission routes, makes prevalence and incidence rates poorly informative. However, additional insights can be gained by analyzing virus phylogenies inferred from dated genetic sequence data.

Background: For many people with HIV (PWH), taking antiretroviral therapy (ARV) every day is difficult.

Methods: Average adherence (Av-Adh) and log-transformed treatment interruption (TI) to ARV were prospectively measured over 6 months using electronic drug monitoring (EDM) in several cohorts of PWH. Multivariate linear regression models including baseline confounders explored the influence of EDM-defined adherence ( ) on 6-month log HIV-RNA.

Background: Tenofovir diphosphate (TFV-DP) concentration in dried blood spots (DBSs) is a reliable pharmacokinetics biomarker of adherence to tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF). We aimed to use DBSs to estimate pill intake among participants using on-demand pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and to identify predictive factors associated with higher TFV-DP concentrations.

Methods: DBSs were collected at the last study visit of the open-label phase of the ANRS IPERGAY study, assessing on-demand oral TDF/emtricitabine for PrEP among MSM and transgender female participants.

We conducted a prospective study about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) knowledge in different populations attending Lyon's University Hospitals in order to estimate awareness on STIs. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)-users (PrEP group), persons living with HIV (PLWH group) and persons undergoing free STI screening (screening group) filled an anonymous questionnaire evaluating STI knowledge. A composite STI knowledge score was calculated and was correlated with patients’ characteristics.

Article Synopsis
  • The study looked at how factors like age, gender, and where someone is born affect HIV care in France, which has free healthcare.
  • They found that men and women spent a lot of time on treatment, but young men born outside of France had the toughest time keeping their virus levels low.
  • Even in a system with free care, there are still differences in how well patients do, so doctors need to help specific groups more.

Background: The arrival of highly effective, well-tolerated, direct-acting antiviral agents (DAA) led to a dramatic decrease in hepatitis C virus (HCV) prevalence. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-HCV-coinfected patients are deemed a priority population for HCV elimination, while a rise in recently acquired HCV infections in men who have sex with men (MSM) has been described. We describe the variations in HIV-HCV epidemiology in the French Dat'AIDS cohort.
