Climate Change and Mental Health: An Interactive Educational Session.

Introduction: Climate change is the single biggest health threat facing humanity, with direct and indirect impacts on mental health, yet health impacts of climate change remain notably absent from most medical school curricula. We describe a timely interactive educational session on climate change and mental health that was implemented and studied on a medical student clinical psychiatry rotation.

Methods: We developed a 1-hour introductory session on the mental health impacts of climate change and potential solutions.

Credible surveillance measures are critical for this industry, especially to guide injury prevention programs with targeted recommendations for specific commodity groups and populations. Objective: The endothelial surface layer (ESL), a layer of macromolecules on the surface of endothelial cells, can both impede and facilitate leukocyte recruitment. However, its role in monocyte and neutrophil recruitment in glomerular capillaries is unknown.

Methods: We used multiphoton intravital microscopy to examine monocyte and neutrophil behavior in the glomerulus following ESL disruption with hyaluronidase.

Many studies have investigated how organizational support systems, remote work adaptation, and control over scheduling reduced psychological burnout and occupational stress, thus improving employee wellbeing during the COVID-19 pandemic. This systematic literature review has analyzed significant published peer-reviewed evidence concerning how remote employees lacking constant organizational support during the COVID-19 outbreak experienced escalated job demands, professional strain, low satisfaction and performance, and increased burnout. Throughout February 2023, a quantitative literature review covering scholarly databases such as the Web of Science, Scopus, and ProQuest was performed, with the following search terms: "COVID-19" + "remote work burnout," "COVID-19" + "professional job stress," and "COVID-19" + "employee emotional exhaustion.

Training load comparison between small, medium, and large-sided games in professional football.

This study aimed to assess if internal and external load parameters were different between sided game formats, if players' positions influenced these parameters, and if load parameters were different among sided game types (from 2vs2 to 10vs10) in professional football players. Twenty-five male players of the same club were enrolled in this study (age = 27 ± 9 years and body mass = 78 ± 14 kg). Sided games were categorized in formats as small-sided games (SSG,  = 145), medium-sided games (MSG,  = 431), and large-sided games (LSG,  = 204).

The concept of educational organizational climate relates to the relational, social, psychological, affective, intellectual, cultural and moral environment that characterizes educational/teaching and managerial activity at the level of a school organization. This study is based on the theory of planned behavior framework in measuring preschool teachers' intentional integrative-qualitative behaviors and Marzano's Model of Teaching Effectiveness. The Marzano Model outlines educational strategies and gives teachers and administrators tools to help teachers become more effective.

External and internal training load comparison between sided-game drills in professional soccer.

This study aims to quantify and compare the external and internal training load demands of sided-game drills in professional team players during the competitive season. Twenty-four male professional soccer players of the same club were enrolled in this study. Drills were categorized as large-sided games (LSG): 10vs10 (84 × 60 m or 72 × 60 m), Hexagon possession 9vs9 + 3 (36 × 48 m), Possession gate 8vs8 + 2 (36 × 44 m), Possession 7vs7 + 3 (30 × 32 m) or as Small-sided games (SSG): 6vs6 (48 × 42 m), and Possession 6vs4 (30 × 60 m).

The effects of acute pain on cognitive skills in emergency department patients.

Introduction: Effective pain management results in improved patient satisfaction, reduced anxiety, and improved comfort. However, concern exists regarding the effects of pain medications on cognition and patient ability to consent for procedures, hospital admission, or to refuse recommended medical interventions.

This suggests that additional non-chemokine-dependent processes may be involved.

Gastric cancer - histopathological correlations between tumor and non-tumor gastric mucosa changes.

Gastric cancer is a widely geographically distributed malignancy with high prevalence, therefore being a serious health problem that needs standardized methods for early diagnosis and treatment. The aim of the study was to evaluate the correlation of some epidemiological and clinical data with the histological features. The study group was made up of 66 patients that underwent surgical removal of the gastric neoplasm, and the pathological exam showed the morphological features of the tumor, as well as the ones of the unaffected mucosal tissue.

Background & Aims: The protease plasmin is an important wound healing factor, but it is not clear how it affects gastrointestinal infection-mediated damage, such as that resulting from Clostridioides difficile. We investigated the role of plasmin in C difficile-associated disease. This bacterium produces a spore form that is required for infection, so we also investigated the effects of plasmin on spores.

Primary cutaneous plasmacytosis: a case report.

Primary cutaneous and systemic plasmacytosis is a rare disorder characterized by infiltration of the skin by polyclonal plasma cells of unknown etiology, frequently accompanied by polyclonal hypergammaglobulinemia and diffuse superficial lymphadenopathy. It primarily arises in patients of Japanese descent, and it is exceedingly rare in Caucasians. We describe a 36-year-old Portuguese male who presented with disseminated reddish-brown plaques over the trunk, neck, and upper limbs with normal gammaglobulinemia consistent with a diagnosis of primary cutaneous plasmacytosis.
