In Brazil, at least four lineages of influenza A virus circulate pig population: 2009 H1N1 flu pandemic (pH1N1), human-seasonal origin H3N2, H1N1 and H1N2 (huH1 lineages) viruses. Studies related to the occurrence of swine influenza A virus (SIAV) in Brazilian herds have been detecting an increase of occurrence of huH1 lineages. This study aimed to construct recombinant vaccines against the huH1N1 virus and test the immunogens in a murine model.

Candidiasis is an infectious disease caused by some fungi of the genus Candida. In Brazil, the incidence rate is higher than in European countries and the United States, and health problems occur mainly due to the virulence factors of the fungi, which have made treatment with commercial drugs difficult. Considering the context, plants rich in phenolic compounds, such as those of the genus Piper, have been studied due to their antimicrobial properties.

Methods: Population-based cross-sectional study with 1,128 women (aged 20-69 years) in Southern Brazil. Data on sleeping medications were obtained from the question "Do you take/use any medication to be able to sleep?" and identified by the Anatomical Therapeutic and Chemical classification.
Background: This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of BioMime sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) system, with an ultra-low strut thickness (65 µm), in real-world all-comers population with coronary artery stenosis (CAD).
Methods: This was a post-marketing, multicenter, single-arm, observational clinical registry among patients undergoing intervention for CAD. Patients were clinically followed up at 1, 9, 12, and 24 months after the index percutaneous coronary intervention.
The objective of this randomized clinical trial was to assess whether early intervention with a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) following a disease alert generated by automated milk feeders could reduce diarrhea severity and improve performance in dairy calves. Seventy-one Holstein calves were enrolled on an automated milk feeder (recorded milk intake and drinking speed) at 3 d of age and received up to 15 L/d (150 g/L) of milk replacer until 35 d of age. An alert that was previously validated as diagnostically accurate to identify calves at risk for diarrhea was used using automated milk feeder data (≤60% rolling dividends in milk intake and/or drinking speed over 2 d).

Despite being considered a safe food for most population, their consumption can pose health risks for allergic patients. This work focused on isolating proteins from the four-European Union approved insects (Tenebrio molitor, Alphitobius diaperinus, Acheta domesticus, and Locusta migratoria) and evaluating their potential immunoglobulin E (IgE)-reactivity with crustacean-allergic patients' sera.

Objective: to analyze the effect of consuming biscuits made with cashew nut flour on the blood glucose and serum triglyceride levels of children with overweight/obesity over four weeks.
Background: Haptics-enhanced virtual reality (VR-haptic) simulation in dental education has evolved considerably during the past decade, representing a promising resource of simulation-based training opportunities to support conventional practice. We aim to summarize current literature on the applications of VR-haptics in learning, practicing, and teaching dental education.
Methods: A literature search was performed using PubMed, focusing on research articles published between January 2010 and January 2024.
Roe deer meat is a prized game product in many European countries. However, concerns exist regarding the accuracy of the amount of declared roe deer in processed game meat foods. This study aimed to develop a reliable method for the detection and quantification of roe deer in commercialized game meat products.

These are characterized by an upregulation of interleukin (IL)-4 levels. Allergies share a strong comorbidity with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

This study aimed to validate a behavior monitoring collar (BMC; CowMed, Santa Maria, RS, Brazil) and its interdevice reliability. First, we compared observations with the BMC, and second the interdevice precision and accuracy for rumination, feeding activity, and idle time of lactating dairy cows.

Risk factors include retinal vascular disease and systemic vascular risk factors, which can predispose the eye to ischaemia. Recent reports now show associations with pregnancy and also migraine episodes.

The demand for therapeutic proteins is growing annually. Novel approaches for the production of these molecules on a large scale are necessary, especially in plants. Plant laticifers could help provide an in vivo cell system for protein production expression that can reduce costs of production and downstream processing.

However, excessive APAP consumption can lead to severe hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity, posing overdose risks. Consequently, the development of analytical methods for an accurate and rapid detection of APAP in biological matrices is of great interest in the health-related fields.

Articles were selected from five databases and 17 longitudinal studies were selected after meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Among these, only one study assessed the association between childhood PA and adult BHI, the results showed no significant association between PA and BHI.

To fully grasp the brewing potential of Corsican hops, it is therefore essential to perform a precise quantification of the molecules responsible for their bittering power.
Objective: The aim of this study is highlighting of the bittering profile of Corsican hops.

Background/objectives: Trypanosomiasis and bovine babesiosis correspond to important diseases that cause great economic losses, but there are still no studies evaluating their occurrence in herds of dairy cattle in Ceará. The aim of this study was to perform molecular diagnosis of the main hemoparasites of dairy cows in the microregion of the central hinterland of Ceará.
Methods: For the molecular diagnosis of parasites, genomic material was extracted and polymerase chain reaction directed to the cdCatL-like gene for and SS rRNA of and was performed.
A 44-year-old female with an established diagnosis of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (based on imaging findings and family history) was being evaluated for weight loss, early satiety and progressive abdominal distension. Kidney function had been relatively stable for years. Because of a history of multiple liver cysts on ultrasonography, the patient was referred for Gastroenterology for evaluation.

Methods: In a 10-year retrospective analysis, focussing on cases of UKA failure, our study aimed to categorise early and late failures, determine the primary failure modes and assess the utilisation of bone augmentations and grafts during conversion to TKA. We evaluated patient data, diagnoses, procedure intervals, and follow-up periods to provide a comprehensive understanding of the conversion process.
To fight counterfeits and to protect the consumer, the interest in certifying the origin of agricultural goods has been steadily growing in the last years. While numerous works focus on the finished product, an aspect often overlooked is the origin of the raw materials and the direct correlation between chemicals in the soil and the plants. With inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) analysis, trace and ultratrace elements in Sangiovese grapes (the main component of Chianti wine) were measured and their levels were used to investigate the geographical origin of the samples.

Psychopharmacology emerged to try to alleviate the symptoms of these disorders; however, the side effects and the time it takes to achieve the desired effect are factors that decrease the search for and adherence to treatment. To remedy this situation, new compounds capable of improving the performance of these medications and reducing their adverse effects have been sought.
