The purpose of the research was to discover which variables better predict phonemic awareness. Socioeconomic status (SES), quality of parent-child interaction (PCI), screen time (DST), visual-spatial ability (VSA), and mathematical reasoning (MR) were included as independent variables in the model, while phonemic awareness (PA) was the dependent (outcome) variable. The research was designed as correlational research.

Silver(I) Complexes Based on Oxadiazole-Functionalized -Aminophosphonate: Synthesis, Structural Study, and Biological Activities.

Two silver(I) complexes, bis{diethyl[(5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl-κ:κ-amino) (4-trifluoromethylphenyl)methyl]phosphonate-(tetrafluoroborato-κ)}-di-silver(I) and tetrakis-{diethyl[(5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl-κ-amino)(4-trifluoromethylphenyl)methyl]phosphonate} silver(I) tetrafluoroborate, were prepared starting from the diethyl[(5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl-amino)(4-trifluoromethylphenyl)methyl]phosphonate () ligand and AgBF salt in Ag/ligand ratios of 1/1 and 1/4, respectively. The structure, stoichiometry, and geometry of the silver complexes were fully characterized by elemental analyses, infrared, single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies, multinuclear NMR, and mass spectroscopies. The binuclear complex ([Ag()(BF)]; ) crystallizes in the monoclinic asymmetric space group 2/c and contains two silver atoms adopting a {AgNF} planar trigonal geometry, which are simultaneously bridged by two oxadiazole rings of two ligands, while the mononuclear complex ([Ag()]BF; ) crystallizes in the non-usual cubic space group c in which the silver atom binds to four distinct electronically enriched nitrogen atoms of the oxadiazole ring, in a slightly distorted {AgN} tetrahedral geometry.

Background: HSP70 is a survival factor for tumor cells in transformation and in tumor progression as well as in anti-apoptotic response.

Objective: Several inhibitors targeting HSP70 ATPase function displayed off-target effects, but PES, which targets the HSP70 substrate binding domain, prevents tumor cell survival prominently. However, PES may not bind HSP70 in the absence of nucleotide.

Moral identity test (MIT) for children: reliability and validity.

Background: The purpose of the present study is to develop the Moral Identity Test (MIT) which measures the moral identity of primary school children.

Methods: The present study was designed as survey research and 516 primary school children were included in the sample. Data were analysed with corrected item-total correlation, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), internal consistency analysis, convergent validity analysis, and item response theory (IRT).

Determination of Optimum Operation Parameters for Low-Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound and Low-Level Laser Based Treatment to Induce Proliferation of Osteoblast and Fibroblast Cells.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the optimum operating parameters (pulse duration, energy levels, and application time) to promote induction of osteoblast and fibroblast cell proliferation and to maintain cell viability treated with low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) and low-level laser therapy (LLLT).

Background Data: The positive effects of LIPUS and LLLT on cellular activity have been reported in recent years. Comparisons between experimental parameters of previous studies are difficult because scientific studies reported frequencies and the duty cycles of LIPUS and wavelengths and doses of LLLT in a wide range of parameters.

Features for muscle fatigue computed from electromyogram and mechanomyogram: A new one.

Muscle fatigue produces negative effects in the performance and it may lead to a muscle failure. This problem makes the quantitative grading of muscle fatigue a necessity in ergonomic and physiological research. Moreover, the quantitative grading of muscle fatigue is needed to increase work and sport productivity and prevent several accidents that result from muscle fatigue.

The Perceived Stigma in Patients with Alopecia and Mental Disorder: A Comparative Study.

Aim: We aimed to measure the perceived stigma, especially in patients with alopecia areata (AA) and to compare the results with patients with mental disorder (MD).

Materials And Methods: This study included forty patients with AA who were consecutively recruited from dermatology outpatient clinic and 42 patients with MD who were consecutively recruited from psychiatric outpatient clinic. The presence of a MD was assessed by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder Fourth Edition.

Aims: Cerebral ischemia reperfusion (IR) injury is a process in which oxidative and apoptotic mechanisms play a part. Neuroprotective agents to be found could work out well for the efficient and safe minimization of cerebral IR injury. Crocin is a strong antioxidant agent; however the influence of this agent on the experimental cerebral ischemia model has not been studied extensively and thus it is not well-known.

Resting metabolic rate, pulmonary functions, and body composition parameters in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Purpose: Several studies of school-aged children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have found a higher prevalence of overweight/obesity compared with the general population. However, the scientific literature contains insufficient evidence to establish clear conclusions on pulmonary functions, resting metabolic rate (RMR), and body composition in children with ADHD. This study therefore investigates the pulmonary functions tests (PFTs), RMR, and body composition parameters in children with ADHD and evaluates their quality of life.

Frequency of body dysmorphic disorder among patients with complaints of hair loss.

Background: Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is a psychiatric condition in which a disabling preoccupation with a non-existent or slight defect in appearance is the main symptom. Hair concerns are frequent in patients with BDD.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of BDD among patients with complaints of hair loss.

Esophageal hypermotility: cause or effect?

Nutcracker esophagus (NE), Jackhammer esophagus (JHE), distal esophageal spasm (DES), and hypertensive lower esophageal sphincter (HTLES) are defined by esophageal manometric findings. Some patients with these esophageal motility disorders also have abnormal gastroesophageal reflux. It is unclear to what extent these patients' symptoms are caused by the motility disorder, the acid reflux, or both.

Enuresis and delayed bladder control are a common source of psychosocial concern for both parents and children. Different cultures have different norms with regard to parenting attitudes. The fact that in Turkey, parents consider enuresis or encopresis as a sign of laziness, misbehavior, or disobedience rather than a medical disorder may cause children to be exposed to physical and emotional violence and maltreatment by the family as a corrective strategy.

Association of schizophrenia with T102C (rs6313) and 1438 A/G (rs6311) polymorphisms of HTR2A gene.

Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate whether there were any associations between the T102C and 1438 A/G polymorphisms of the 5-HT2A receptor gene and schizophrenia. We conducted a case-control study of the T102C and 1438 A/G polymorphisms in Turkish patients.

Methods: We compared genotypes and allele frequencies of T102C and 1438 A/G polymorphisms of 5-HT2A receptor gene in 102 patients with schizophrenia diagnosed, according to DSM-IV, and 107 healthy controls.
