Background: Placental syndrome, mainly composed of preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction, has an impact on the health of mother and baby dyads. While impaired placentation is central to their pathophysiology, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain incompletely understood. This study investigates the association between placental syndrome and metabolic alterations in 1-deoxysphingolipids (1-deoxySLs) and polyamines, along with their regulatory enzymes.

The effect of disopyramide therapy on functional capacity improvement in patients with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Background: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is characterized by left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO), leading to symptoms and adverse outcomes. Disopyramide, with its negative inotropic effects, is commonly used to reduce LVOTO in obstructive HCM (HOCM). This study evaluates the impact of disopyramide on functional capacity in HOCM patients.

Background/aims:  It was aimed to investigate the biochemical and histopathological effects of resveratrol and melatonin, via histone H4 and β-defensin 1, in diabetic rats.

Materials And Methods:  Twenty-four Sprague-Dawley male rats were categorized into 4 groups, with 6 rats in each group (control, diabetes mellitus, melatonin - diabetes mellitus, and resveratrol+diabetes mellitus). Diabetes was formed by giving streptozotocin to all groups except the control group.

Objectives: In this study, the systemic proinflammatory status was assessed using the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and SIRI systemic immune-inflammatory response index (SIRI) in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).

Methods: The study involved 159 patients aged between 6 and 16 years. The SII and SIRI values were calculated based on the complete blood count.

Therefore, it can be a risk factor for individuals who have frequent dermal contact with THS-contaminated surfaces. In the present study, it was aimed to elucidate the toxicity of dermal THS exposure in HaCaT human keratinocytes.

The Effect of Yoga Practice on Cervical Tactile Acuity and Body Awareness.

Body-mind-based holistic methods of relaxation and improved well-being, such as yoga and meditation, improve body awareness and have often been used to enhance quality of life and the ability to cope with pain. We aimed to compare tactile sensory acuity and body awareness in healthy sedentary individuals who practiced yoga regularly and in control participants who had not practiced yoga. Participants were 60 individuals, aged between 18 and 35 years who were divided into two groups according to whether they had previously practiced yoga.

Lameness is one of the culling factors such as mastitis, low milk yield, and infertility that cause economic losses in herd management as they threaten animal health and welfare. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the early detection of lameness in Brown Swiss cattle by using a data mining algorithm by both integrating lameness scores and some image parameters such as Lab (CIE L*, a*, b*), HSB (hue, saturation, brightness), RGB (red, green, blue) by processing thermal images with ImageJ program. In the study, the variables obtained as a result of processing the skin surface temperatures and thermal images taken at the fetlock joint of 33 Brown Swiss cattle were used as independent variables.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid Modulates the Oxidative and Inflammatory Responses Induced by Traditional and Novel Tobacco Products in Human Liver Epithelial Cells.

Smoking has been associated with NAFLD recently, thus might be a contributing factor for liver disease progression. In this study, we identified the modulative action of α-lipoic acid (α-LA), an organosulphur compound, towards heated tobacco product (HTP) and cigarette smoke extract (CSE)-induced oxidative stress and inflammation in human liver HepG2 cells. The cells were pre-treated with α-LA and exposed to tobacco extracts, and cytotoxicity, oxidative response (SOD, CAT activities and GSH, MDA levels), inflammation (nitrite, IL-6, AhR levels), and liver function (AST/ALT) were assessed.

We used two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) to evaluate cardiac function before and after the treatment of childhood BA. We enrolled 44 children with moderate and severe BA who had not been treated over the preceding 3 months or who were newly diagnosed.
