Introduction: Orthognathic surgery is a fundamental component of a maxillofacial surgeon's practice. In France, 510 specialists actively practice oral and maxillofacial surgery. In OMFs, despite the existence of evidence-based recommendation that address diagnosis, treatment planning, and operating methods, each surgeon/institution has developed an individual approach towards clinical management.

Methods: This systematic review with meta-analysis aimed to compare primary and secondary dental implantation of free bone flaps in reconstructions for malignant tumors of the oral cavity.
Ossifying fibroma (OF) is a rare benign fibro-osseous neoplasm developing mostly in maxillo-facial bones. OF is divided in cemento-ossifying fibroma (COF), juvenile trabecular ossifying fibroma (JTOF) and psammomatoid ossifying fibroma (PSOF). The aim of this systematic review was to synthetize the existing literature on OF, investigating the clinical and radiological parameters related to the different forms of the disease, and to compare the treatment modalities according to their associated recurrence rate.

Polypharmacy (PP) and hyperpolypharmacy (HPP), are prevalent among cancer patients and are associated with an increased risk of drug-drug interactions (DDI) and potentially inappropriate medications (PIM). This study aimed to characterize PP, HPP, DDI, and PIM in patients with hematological malignancies hospitalized for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) by introducing a novel metric: cumulative drug exposure. Clinical data warehouse (CDW) records were employed to develop algorithms that quantified patients' cumulative exposure to these prescribing determinants during hospitalization.

Objectives: The development of 3D computer-assisted technologies over the past years has led to vast improvements in orthognathic surgery. The aim of the present study was to evaluate differences in maxillary position between 3D virtual surgical planning (VSP) and surgical results.
Materials And Methods: We assessed data from 25 patients who underwent bimaxillary non-segmented orthognathic surgery with 3D VSP.

Introduction: Craniofacial microsomia (CFM) and camel-hump condylo-mandibular dysplasia (CMD) are developmental disorders affecting the mandible that share common clinical features. This study aimed to investigate and compare the dental anomalies (DA) between the two entities for differential diagnosis and to propose appropriate treatment.
Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study was based on panoramic radiographs of patients diagnosed with CFM or CMD.
Estrogen receptor (ER) α is involved in male sexual function. Here, we aim to investigate how ERα activation influences sexual satiety and the Coolidge effect (i.e.

This dento-skeletal discrepancy can be isolated or associated to a condyle hyperplasia or a transverse overgrowth of the mandible due to macroglossia. We present the technique and the postoperative results of bilateral condylectomy applied for the surgical correction of PVE.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjectives: Among the existing techniques for the correction of mandibular posterior vertical insufficiency (PVI), the intra-oral ramus vertical lengthening osteotomy (IORVLO) can be proposed as it allows simultaneous correction of mandibular height and retrusion. This study assessed the 3D morpho-anatomical changes of the ramus-condyle unit and occlusal stability after IORVLO.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective analysis compared immediate and 1-year post-operative 3D CBCT reconstructions.
Introduction: Mandibular advancement devices (MAD) are an alternative to continuous positive airway pressure for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). We aimed to evaluate the efficiency of a custom-made monoblock MAD for the treatment of OSAHS.
Materials And Methods: We carried out a monocentric retrospective observational study including patients with OSAHS (mild, moderate or severe) or isolated ronchopathy from January 2005 to March 2023.

This systematic review aimed to evaluate the dental prosthetic rehabilitation (DPR) in patients after jaw reconstruction with fibula free flap. Four databases were searched from January 2000 to January 2023. Of the 2507 studies identified, 36 observational studies were included.

This study aimed to radiographically compare the position of IAN before and after M3 removal in patients with Class II malocclusion.
Materials And Method: The CBCT images of 30 randomly selected patients (mean age 15.
Introduction: Mandibulo-Facial Dysostosis with Microcephaly (MFDM) is a rare disease with a broad spectrum of symptoms, characterized by zygomatic and mandibular hypoplasia, microcephaly, and ear abnormalities. Here, we aimed at describing the external ear phenotype of MFDM patients, and train an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based model to differentiate MFDM ears from non-syndromic control ears (binary classification), and from ears of the main differential diagnoses of this condition (multi-class classification): Treacher Collins (TC), Nager (NAFD) and CHARGE syndromes.
Methods: The training set contained 1,592 ear photographs, corresponding to 550 patients.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the sagittal and vertical relapses after Le Fort 1 osteotomy in bilateral cleft lip and palate (BCLP) patients. Lateral cephalograms before surgery, immediately after the procedure, at one year, and at least two years (when available) after surgery were superimposed. The positions of five landmarks were studied in a coordinate system.

Introduction: Functional genioplasty aims to achieve lip competence at rest and reduces lip pressure against the mandibular incisors. The purpose of this study was to describe the radiographic changes in alveolar bone of the mandibular incisors after functional genioplasty.
Materials And Methods: Cone beam CT images from 36 patients were compared between immediate (T0) and delayed postoperative period (T1).
Background: Imaging of the salivary ductal system is relevant prior to an endoscopic or a surgical procedure. Various imaging modalities can be used for this purpose. The aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic capability of three-dimensional (3D)-cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) sialography versus magnetic resonance (MR) sialography in non-tumorous salivary pathologies.

PvIg is manufactured from plasma collected from numeral donors, and its production is complex. Supply tensions have been observed for several years, and it is necessary to limit their consumption.

A horseshoe (HS) osteotomy represents then an alternative as it preserves the hard palate and the intranasal volume. The aim of this study was to assess the vertical stability of the maxilla after HS osteotomy.

Studies on these skin flaps in rat models are numerous but there is currently no reference regarding the position of the perforators, their caliber, and the length of the vascular pedicles.
Methods: We performed an anatomical study on 10 Wistar rats and 140 vessels: cranial epigastric (CE), superficial inferior epigastric (SIE), lateral thoracic (LT), posterior thigh (PT), deep iliac circumflex (DCI) and posterior intercostal (PIC) vessels.
