Aim: To estimate () recurrence rate in Latin America, a region with a significant prevalence and gastric cancer burden.
Methods: PubMed, LILACS, SciELO, Cochrane databases and abstracts from relevant meetings were reviewed. Information collected included: Participants' characteristics, recruitment strategy, diagnostic modality, treatment arms, follow-up and recurrence rates.
Background: Burnout in health care professionals could have serious negative consequences on quality of patient care, professional satisfaction and personal life. Our aim was to investigate the burnout prevalence, work and lifestyle factors potentially affecting burnout amongst European oncologists ≤40 (YOs).
Methods: A survey was conducted using the validated Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and additional questions exploring work/lifestyle factors.
MicroRNAs have been recognized as critical regulators of gene expression and might affect the risk of venous thrombosis. We aimed to identify 3' untranslated region (UTR) variants in coagulation genes that influence coagulation factor levels and venous thrombosis risk. The 3'UTR of coagulation genes were sequenced in subjects with extremely high or low plasma levels of these factors in two case-control studies.

For many years, parasitic B chromosomes have been considered genetically inert elements. Here we show the presence of ten protein-coding genes in the B chromosome of the grasshopper Eyprepocnemis plorans. Four of these genes (CIP2A, GTPB6, KIF20A, and MTG1) were complete in the B chromosome whereas the six remaining (CKAP2, CAP-G, HYI, MYCB2, SLIT and TOP2A) were truncated.

The design is based on silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology and permits mode conversion and mode multiplexing/demultiplexing. In the nominal design, mode conversion and mode (de)multiplexing are achieved with 97% efficiency and a 23.

Patients And Methods: A run-in phase 1 stage was used to determine the recommended phase 2 dose and characterize the dose-limiting toxicities of LM in combination with carboplatin/etoposide followed by LM alone in patients with CD56-positive solid tumors. In phase 2, chemotherapy-naive ED-SCLC patients were randomized 2:1 to carboplatin AUC (area under the plasma concentration vs.
An in-depth focused study of specific cases of patients with recurrent thrombosis may help to identify novel circumstances, genetic and acquired factors contributing to the development of this disorder. The aim of this study was to carry out a detailed and sequential analysis of samples from a patient suffering from early and recurrent venous and arterial thrombosis. We performed thrombophilic tests, biochemical, functional, genetic and glycomic analysis of antithrombin and other plasma proteins.

As in celiac disease, the pathologic findings are villous atrophy and increased intraepithelial lymphocytes. Clinical presentation of olmesartan-induced enteropathy includes diarrhea, weight loss, and nausea.

Approximately 30% of the 13 000 ESMO members are below the age of 40 and thus meet the society's definition of young oncologists (YOs). ESMO has identified the training and development of YOs as a priority and has therefore established a comprehensive career development programme.

The cost for the structural flexibility required for this function is the vulnerability to mutations that impact its folding pathway. Most conformational mutations identified in serpins cause polymerisation.

Surgery is the initial treatment of choice, although it often presents as a widespread disease at the time of diagnosis, usually with cervical swelling that causes most of the symptoms due to local infiltration or metastasis. Local infiltration from adjacent tumour and metastatic disease needs to be excluded from other primary epidermoid carcinomas, in order to make a correct diagnosis.

Methods: We reviewed all esophagogastroduodenoscopies with findings of MWS (n = 2342) in a national database and compared with age and gender-matched controls (n = 9368).
Aims: The aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of a novel strategy to treat radial artery spasm (RAS).
Methods And Results: We conducted a prospective, randomised, single-centre, open-label trial comparing a novel strategy of pressure-mediated dilatation versus intra-arterial administration of a combination of nitroglycerine plus verapamil for the treatment of RAS. The primary endpoint was radial artery intraluminal diameter acute gain assessed by quantitative radial angiography.
Background: Guatemala, as a party to the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), is required to regulate cigarette packaging and labeling and eliminate illicit tobacco trade. Current packaging and labeling characteristics (of legal and illegal cigarettes) and their compliance with the FCTC is unknown.
Methods: We sought to analyze package and label characteristics of illegal and legal cigarettes sold in Guatemala.
Background To determine the recommended dose (RD) of a combination of PM01183 and gemcitabine in patients with advanced solid tumors. Methods Forty-five patients received escalating doses of PM01183/gemcitabine on Days 1 and 8 every 3 weeks (d1,8 q3wk) following a standard 3 + 3 design. Results PM01183 3.

We surveyed physicians treating NSCLC to determine their therapy goals, drivers of treatment choice, current prescribing behavior, and therapy expectations.
Materials And Methods: In 2015, an online survey was conducted of 500 pulmonologists/oncologists treating lung adenocarcinoma in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom, comprising screening and therapy decision questions.
Study Objectives: Low flow supplemental oxygen is commonly prescribed to patients with obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS). However, there is a paucity of data regarding its efficacy and safety. The objective of this study was to assess the medium-term treatment efficacy of adding supplemental oxygen therapy to commonly prescribed treatment modalities in OHS.

We are reporting a case of a healthy 21-year-old male, with no significant past medical history, who was found to have an incidental nonocclusive deep vein thrombosis in the right internal jugular vein detected on a head MRI previously ordered for work-up of headaches. A follow-up upper extremity venous Doppler ultrasound confirmed the presence of a partially occlusive deep vein thrombosis in the right jugular vein. The case presented is unique for the reason that the patient is young and has no prior risk factor, personal or familial, for venous thrombosis except for associated polycythemia on clinical presentation.
