Background: Tranexamic acid (TXA) administration is recommended in severely injured trauma patients. We examined TXA administration, admission fibrinolysis phenotypes, and clinical outcomes following traumatic injury and hypothesized that TXA was associated with increased multiple organ failure (MOF).

Methods: Two-year, single-center, retrospective investigation.

Article Synopsis
  • Changes in retinal blood flow could play a role in glaucoma and similar eye diseases.
  • Erythrocyte mediated velocimetry (EMV) is a new technique that uses indocyanine green dye to measure the speed of erythrocytes in the retinal microvasculature.
  • The study involved 23 sessions showing the average erythrocyte speeds in arteries (7.17 mm/s) and veins (6.05 mm/s), with low variability in the measurements, suggesting EMV could be a reliable method for studying blood flow in the retina.
