Anxiety is among the most prevalent mental health issues in children. While it is well established that gonadal steroids influence anxiety-like behavior in adulthood, a potential role in prepubertal juveniles has been overlooked because it is commonly thought that the gonads are quiescent during the juvenile period. However, the juvenile gonads secrete measurable amounts of steroids, and we have recently found that prepubertal ovariectomy decreases anxiety-like behavior of juvenile Siberian hamsters in the light/dark box test.

Altered vocal communication in adult vasopressin-deficient Brattleboro rats.

The neuropeptide, arginine vasopressin (AVP), has been implicated in social communication across a diverse array of species. Many rodents communicate basic behavioral states with negative versus positive valence through high-pitched vocalizations above the human hearing range (ultrasonic vocalizations; USVs). Previous studies have found that Brattleboro (Bratt) rats, which have a mutation in the Avp gene, exhibit deficits in their USVs from the early postnatal period through adolescence, but the magnitude of this effect appears to decrease from the juvenile to adolescent phase.

Pop-up Langmuir probe diagnostic in the water cooled divertor of Wendelstein 7-X.

The design, development, and successful implementation of pop-up Langmuir probes installed in the water-cooled divertor of W7-X are described. The probes are controlled by drive coils (actuators) installed behind the divertor plates. These drive coils make use of the magnetic field in W7-X to move the probe tips into and out of the plasma.

Social evaluative stress enhances central detail memory, reduces false memory, and results in intrusive memories that last for days.

Few studies have quantified what an individual remembers about a laboratory-controlled stressor. Here, we aimed to replicate previous work by using a modified version of the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST) to quantify participant memory for a stressful experience. We also aimed to extend this work by quantifying false and intrusive memories that ensued.

Longitudinal Evaluation of an Integrated Post-COVID-19/Long COVID Management Program Consisting of Digital Interventions and Personal Support: Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background: The postacute COVID-19 syndrome (PACS) can be addressed with multidisciplinary approaches, including professional support and digital interventions.

Objective: This research aimed to test whether patients who received a health care facilitation program including medical internet support from human personal pilots and digital interventions (intervention group [IG] and active control group [ACG]) would experience fewer symptoms and have higher work ability and social participation than an untreated comparison group (CompG). The second objective was to compare the impact of a diagnostic assessment and digital interventions tailored to patients' personal capacity (IG) with that of only personal support and digital interventions targeting the main symptoms (ACG).

Reinfection incidence and risk among people treated for recent hepatitis C virus infection.

Objective: Reinfection poses a challenge to hepatitis C virus (HCV) elimination. This analysis assessed incidence of, and factors associated with reinfection among people treated for recent HCV (duration of infection <12 months).

Methods: Participants treated for recent HCV (primary infection or reinfection) in an international randomized trial were followed at 3-monthly intervals for up to 2 years to assess for reinfection.

Pre-Learning Stress That Is Temporally Removed from Acquisition Impairs Fear Learning.

Few studies have examined the time-dependent effects of stress on fear learning. Previously, we found that stress immediately before fear conditioning enhanced fear learning. Here, we aimed to extend these findings by assessing the effects of stress 30 min prior to fear conditioning on fear learning and fear generalization.

Sofosbuvir plus velpatasvir for 8 weeks in patients with acute hepatitis C: The HepNet acute HCV-V study.

Background & Aims: EASL guidelines recommend 8 weeks of treatment with sofosbuvir plus velpatasvir (SOF/VEL) for the treatment of acute or recently acquired HCV infection, but only 6- and 12-week data are available. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a shortened 8-week SOF/VEL treatment for acute HCV monoinfection.

Methods: In this investigator-initiated, prospective, multicentre, single-arm study, we recruited 20 adult patients with acute HCV monoinfection from nine centers in Germany.

Finding hearts at peace: A new workforce competency.

While there is no single agreed upon set of competencies for the behavioral health workforce in primary care, there is a consensus about the importance of communication, the role of the behavioral health provider as part of a larger team, and the critical need to value diverse perspectives. In this column, the current and incoming Presidents of the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association (CFHA) present a framework that focuses on a "way of being"; a lens to reflect and process the sense of division and injustice, and to pave the path ahead. We believe that the fundamental question that can scale this "way of being" to a higher level of acquired skill or internalized competency for ongoing workforce development is: as we engage in dialogue on difficult, highly personal, moral, and valued topics with others, "Is your heart at peace, or is your heart at war?" May each of us in the CFHA family and community be anchored in hearts of peace as we continue to advance the mission of providing equitable care through our love of integrated behavioral health.

Introduction: Substance misuse persists and is undertreated across the United States (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2021). Introduction: Addressing the opioid crisis requires attention to the fact that people with opioid use disorder are affected by multiple systems and professionals working across disciplines (e.g., primary health care, social work, psychology).

Childhood Maltreatment in Females Is Associated with Enhanced Fear Acquisition and an Overgeneralization of Fear.

Childhood maltreatment may alter fear neurocircuitry, which results in pathological anxiety and depression. One alteration of fear-related behaviors that has been observed in several psychiatric populations is an overgeneralization of fear. Thus, we examined the association between childhood maltreatment and fear generalization in a non-clinical sample of young adults.

From surviving to thriving: Strategies to cultivate individual and organizational resilience in the health care workforce.

In this president's column, the author notes that resilience has been identified as a strategy to mitigate the triumvirate of burnout, compassion fatigue, and moral distress. Once viewed as an innate personality trait, there has been an increased focus on the cultivation of resilience among health care providers, with attention to evolving educational models depending on the career stage of the provider and interventions for interprofessional health care workers. Strategies to develop the "7Cs" of individual resilience, which were initially applied to children and adolescents, have begun to be applied to physicians.

Low Spontaneous Clearance Rates of Recently Acquired Hepatitis C Virus in Human Immunodeficiency Virus-Positive Men Who Have Sex With Men (PROBE-C Study).

Background: Using direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) for recently acquired hepatitis C virus (RAHCV) infections, particularly in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive men who have sex with men (MSM), dramatically reduced the incidence of hepatitis C. However, implementation into clinical practice is challenging. The aim of this study was to analyze spontaneous clearance (SC) rates of RAHCV and to identify predictors of SC.

Just ask: Promoting inclusive and holistic sexual health in primary care.

While the full scope of sexual health treatment is unlikely to ever be exclusively provided in primary care, it is increasingly important that interdisciplinary teams are poised to address this issue more effectively and comprehensively than we currently are. Providers need to seek out training and resources as they work toward meeting recently articulated competencies in an effort to provide whole person care. And, in the meantime, open the door to conversations about holistic sexual health by simply asking patients about their experiences.

HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis was associated with no impact on sexually transmitted infection prevalence in a high-prevalence population of predominantly men who have sex with men, Germany, 2018 to 2019.

IntroductionDespite increased use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in Germany, HIV infection rates are not declining and little is known about how this prevention method affects the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections (STI) among men who have sex with men (MSM).AimWe studied, in a large multicentre cohort, STI point prevalence, co-infection rates, anatomical location and influence of PrEP.MethodsThe BRAHMS study was a prospective cohort study conducted at 10 sites in seven major German cities that enrolled MSM reporting increased sexual risk behaviour.

Leveraging interprofessional education to build high functioning teams.

As a psychologist, the author says that her role in the integrated primary care team has always been that of the behavioral health provider, serving to promote the holistic health of the patients and families with whom she works as part of the larger integrated team. Central to both Primary Care Behavioral Health and the Collaborative Care model-as well as other models of integration-is that the health care works to address fragmented care in order to most comprehensively address patient needs. And yet we often focus on training to the model in which behavioral health providers work.

Switching to a NRTI-free 2 drug regimen (2DR) -a sub-analysis of the 48 weeks DUALIS study on metabolic and renal changes.

Switching from a three-drug regimen (3DR: boosted darunavir [bDRV] and two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors [NRTIs]) to a two-drug regimen (2DR: bDRV and dolutegravir [DTG]) demonstrated non-inferiority with regard to viral suppression in people living with HIV (PLWH) in the DUALIS study. This sub-analysis focuses on changes in metabolic and renal parameters when sparing the NRTI backbone. DUALIS was a randomized, open-label, multicenter (27) phase 3-trial.

Culturally responsive refugee and migrant health.

As the number of forcibly displaced vulnerable populations accelerates worldwide, it is increasingly important that health care systems and professionals be prepared to offer comprehensive, culturally, and linguistically appropriate services to migrant and refugee populations. Understanding the unique needs and lived experiences of these populations, including their risks to health and wellbeing as well as opportunities to promote resilience, is necessary to support these populations' diverse needs. Integrated primary care teams are uniquely poised to support these populations by reducing barriers to health and promoting equitable and holistic care.

Virologic outcomes of switching to boosted darunavir plus dolutegravir with respect to history of drug resistance.

Objective: The DUALIS study showed that switching to boosted darunavir (bDRV) plus dolutegravir (DTG; 2DR) was non-inferior to continuous bDRV plus 2 nucleoside/nucleotide reverse-transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs; 3DR) in treatment-experienced virologically suppressed people living with HIV (PLWH). We analyzed virologic outcomes with respect to treatment history and HIV drug resistance.

Developing antiracist integrated health professionals.

As the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association (CFHA) has increased its focus on justice, diversity, and inclusion in integrated care delivery, it is increasingly evident that widespread upstream transformation is needed to ensure that the integrated care workforce is appropriately prepared to deliver equitable care. This column highlights the need for systemic change in admissions standards, integrated care curricula, student mentorship/sponsorship, and faculty development within higher education in order to support the success of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) students and increase antiracist approaches among health care professionals. CFHA members working in, or in collaboration with, academia are uniquely poised to influence higher education systems to promote diversity, inclusion, and antiracism among future integrated health professionals.
