Introduction: Video urodynamics (UDS) has classically been performed using fluoroscopy (fluoro). Contrast enhanced voiding ultrasonography (ceVUS) has rarely been reported for use with UDS. This is the first study to compare the imaging characteristics of ceVUS versus fluoro UDS.

Viability of contrast-enhanced voiding urosonography as an alternative to fluoroscopy during video urodynamics.

Pediatric urodynamic studies are performed to evaluate bladder function, commonly in conjunction with a voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG). Contrast-enhanced voiding urosonography (CeVUS) has been approved in the evaluation of vesicoureteral reflux and has been shown to have equal or superior diagnostic value to VCUG. In this technical innovation, we have shown that ultrasound contrast agent microbubbles are compatible with the equipment used for urodynamic evaluation.

Objective: Older men have lower participation rates than females in health promotion interventions. We conducted a qualitative review of 20 years of existing research across a variety of academic search databases to outline the barriers, facilitators, and recommendations for this imbalance.

Data Source: A systematic search was conducted across Google Scholar, PubMed, MEDLINE, CINAHL, Academic Search Premier, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, and Web of Science from dates January 1, 2000 - December 31, 2020.

Long-term Outcomes After Gender-Affirming Surgery: 40-Year Follow-up Study.

Background: Gender dysphoria is a condition that often leads to significant patient morbidity and mortality. Although gender-affirming surgery (GAS) has been offered for more than half a century with clear significant short-term improvement in patient well-being, few studies have evaluated the long-term durability of these outcomes.

Methods: Chart review identified 97 patients who were seen for gender dysphoria at a tertiary care center from 1970 to 1990 with comprehensive preoperative evaluations.

To address the problem of lack of clinical evidence for airway devices introduced to the market, the Difficult Airway Society (UK) developed an approach (termed ADEPT; Airway Device Evaluation Project Team) to standardise the model for device evaluation. Under this framework we assessed the LMA Protector, a second generation laryngeal mask airway. A total of 111 sequential adult patients were recruited and the LMA Protector inserted after induction of general anaesthesia.

Background: High rates of tuberculosis (TB) in migrants from Tibet and Nepal have been documented for over 120 years and were previously ascribed to poor living conditions in the places of settlement. Adaptations to altitude involving genes in the Hypoxia-Inducible Factor pathway are present in 90-95% of Tibetans and in Nepalis these allele frequencies increase by 17% with each 1000 m increase in altitude.

Methods: We calculated the incidence of TB by country of origin in immigrants from South and East Asia in New South Wales (NSW), Australia between 2004 and 2018, and compared disease severity, site of infection, evidence of local transmission and prevalence of latent TB, among these groups.

Background: With the introduction of strict public health measures due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have had to change how we deliver simulation training. In order to reinstate the College of Anaesthesiologists Simulation Training (CAST) programme safely, we have had to make significant logistical changes. We discuss the process of reopening a national simulation anaesthesiology programme during a pandemic.

Objectives: Ureteral stents are commonly used during pyeloplasty to ensure drainage and anastomotic healing. Antibiotic prophylaxis is often used due to concerns for urinary tract infection (UTI). Although many surgeons prescribe prophylactic antibiotics following pyeloplasty, practices vary widely due to lack of clear evidence-based guidelines.
