Article Synopsis
  • Carbon-11 (C) is essential for PET imaging, but its short half-life of 20.4 minutes limits synthetic options.
  • A new method using BOP to react [C]CO with amine precursors allows for the quick and easy synthesis of C-labeled ureas at room temperature.
  • This technique is innovative as it employs BOP for the first time in radiochemistry, making it accessible for labs with [C]CO and yielding good to excellent results.

Glioblastoma is the most common malignant adult brain tumor and has a very poor patient prognosis. The mean survival for highly proliferative glioblastoma is only 10 to 14 months despite an aggressive current therapeutic approach known as Stupp's protocol, which consists of debulking surgery followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Despite several clinical trials using anti-angiogenic targeted therapies, glioblastoma medical care remains without major progress in the last decade.
