[Common treatment diagnoses in dermatological emergency services].

Patients with a variety of dermatologic conditions, ranging from mild to life-threatening course of disease, present to the dermatological emergency service. The article provides an overview of prevalent conditions and recommendations for diagnosis and treatment according to guidelines. Major acute allergic diseases such as anaphylaxis, urticaria, angioedema and cutaneous drug reactions are discussed.

Immunocompromised Patients with Therapy-Refractory Chronic Skin Diseases Show Reactivation of Latent Epstein‒Barr Virus and Cytomegalovirus Infection.

Reactivation of latent Epstein‒Barr virus (EBV) and/or Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is a dreaded complication in immunocompromised patients receiving hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Evidence is sparse on whether subclinical reactivation of viral infection may also be of clinical relevance in dermatological patients. We screened patients (N = 206) suffering from chronic skin diseases for subclinical reactivation of EBV and CMV infection.

Googling for Ticks and Borreliosis in Germany: Nationwide Google Search Analysis From 2015 to 2018.

Background: Borreliosis is the most frequently transmitted tick-borne disease in Europe. It is difficult to estimate the incidence of tick bites and associated diseases in the German population due to the lack of an obligation to register across all 16 federal states of Germany.

Objective: The aim of this study is to show that Google data can be used to generate general trends of infectious diseases on the basis of borreliosis and tick bites.

[Lyme Borreliosis: Cutaneous and Neurologic Manifestations, Case Definitions and Therapy].

Lyme borreliosis is the most common zoonosis in Germany with an incidence of up to 138/100 000. More than 90 % of all cases show dermatological manifestations. Early manifestations are erythema migrans, multiple erythemata migrantia, and (less frequently) borrelial lymphocytoma.

[Dangerous mimikry - cutaneous tumours appearing as ulcus cruris].

History And Clinical Findings: We report on a 83-year-old female patient which suffered from a chronic ulcer of the right leg for several years. She has been treated with standard wound dressings under the diagnosis of an ulcer due to chronic venous insufficiency.

Investigations And Diagnosis: A first biopsy showed a lower leg dermatitis and dermatosclerosis due to the chronic venous insufficiency.
