The management of rectal cancer recognizes surgical resection as the most important step towards a permanent cure. Respecting the oncological principles, functional preservation represents a priority in achieving an acceptable quality of life for the patient. This study aimed to compare the results after low anterior resection (LAR) versus very low anterior resection (VLAR), in terms of postoperative outcome.

The modified technique consisted of the abandonment of colonic J-pouches, transverse coloplasty, or defunctioning temporary stoma in favor of a direct handsewn coloanal anastomosis (CAA).
Material And Methods: Sixty consecutive patients with type II and III (juxta-anal or intra-anal) low rectal tumors underwent modified ISR by the same surgical team and were followed for a period of five years.
Background: Primary choriocarcinoma of the stomach (PCCS) is a rare tumor, with fewer than 60 cases published in the English-language literature up to December 2018. In this paper, we present the complex immunoprofile of one PCCS and a hypothesis regarding its histogenesis.
Case Summary: A 66-year-old previously healthy male underwent an emergency palliative gastrectomy for a gastric obstructive tumor.
Pica is a serious condition that is characterized by ingesting inedible things which can prove to be fatal (glass, pebbles, etc.) We present the case of a 64-year-old male patient who is admitted to the emergency room with the following complaints: upper GI tract bleeding manifested through hematemesis and melena, epigastric pain, lack of bowel movements. A contrast computed tomograohy is performed showing the presence of a hyper-dense stomach content, gastric wall thickening, abdominal fluid but with no signs of intestinal occlusion.

Open surgery is still an option for the treatment of incisional hernias with medium and large wall defects. Major opioids are routinely used in the treatment of postoperative pain, with several side effects.

The assessment of clinical and pathological factors is important because they represent powerful predictors of the postoperative outcome and have to be considered in the decision making regarding the appropriate surgical technique. The aim of the study was to analyze how the tumor clinical and pathological features correlate with the chosen type of surgical intervention in influencing survival of rectal cancer patients.

Introduction: The pyo-pneumopericardium is a very rare complication of an incarcerated diaphragmatic hernia. Usually, it depends on the existence of a gastropericardial fistula and, in most cases, it is a deadly complication.
Case Report: We present the case of a 65 year old man who was admitted to our emergency service with clinical signs of septic shock.
Purpose: To assess whether deoxycholic acid (DOC) and lithocholic acid (LCA) administered in a period of six months in a concentration of 0.25% may have a carcinogenic role in mice colon.
Methods: The study used C57BL6 female mice divided into four groups.

Introduction: The emergence of LigaSure device in surgical practice brings some real benefits in thyroid surgery. UsingLigaSure Small Jaw device in total thyroidectomy is an important step in thyroid surgery. The aim of this study is to present the initial experience of Surgical Clinic I of Targu Mures staff in terms of total thyroidectomy using this procedure, without ligatures compared to the conventional technique with ligatures.

Description Of Case: A 62-year-old male was hospitalized with hematemesis. Laparoscopic ligature of two gastric ulcers located in the antrum was performed but the upper gastrointestinal bleeding was not stopped.
Introduction: Intestinal intussusception in adult represents a rare cause of intestinal obstruction, therefore the diagnostic and therapeutic methods must be adapted to each case.
Materials And Methods: We present the case of a 30 year old female admitted in our service suffering from a subocclusive symptomatology. After preoperative tests were completed in another medical unit, we presumed the possibility of intestinal intussusception.
A 75-years old man was hospitalized with symptoms which suggested gastric cancer. Thirty-eight years ago, he had undergone a Billroth-II gastric reconstruction for a peptic ulcer. At the present admission, he had presented with an eight-month history of recurrent haematemesis, epigastric pain, vomiting, and fatigue.

Its involvement regarding the increse of breast cancer risk has 2 aspects: it may be either the marker of a prone tissue or a premalignant hystological deffect. Difficult differential diagnosis of benign proliferative breast lession and carcinoma led to the idea of sequency between the two: cancer does not initiate on normal mammary epithelia; it takes several proliferative stages for it to occur.

Thymectomy is one of the current management strategies for myasthenia gravis. This is observational study focused on the evolution of the surgical and anesthesiological strategies applied to the patients submitted to thymectomy initially by maximal sternotomy (in the years 1994-1998), followed by unconditioned reorientation towards thymectomy by VATS. A number of 103 patients are included, 51 thymectomy by left VATS.
